Yeah, totally forgot about Lauryn. When she was doing it, there wasn't another female on her level. I wish she'd make a new album; whatever happened to the Da Fugees album? Weren't they on BET last year talking about a reunion or was that a one time thing?

Ok, I rescind that first comment. Still, I think Shawnna eats Latifah and Lyte up. She's a bad girl.

I agree that Shawnna is one of the best female rappers ever. It upsets me she doesn't get more play. Everyone needs to check out RPM feat. Twista off of her "Worth tha Weight" album.

She never got right, man. I think she backed out so the new album never happened. I won't sleep on Shawnna... I need to check her out. But you may want to revisit both Lyte and Latifah's first albums. They get props for longevity but they were also ridiculous when they both first came out. Like most, they became more mainstream over the years (still good but not like the early years).

She didn't rap in Block Party? Honestly can't remember. Did she just sing Killing Me Softly and a hook or two?

Damn I don't even remember either. Might have to pop that in and check it out but I do remember she was on there though. Matter of fact, I could've sworn the whole Fugees was on there but I just can't recall whether she was rapping or not.

Don't get me wrong, I've listened to both. I wasn't as much of a fan of Latifah's as I was Lyte's. I saw where she was coming from with her messages and all that, but I think I was too young too appreciate them. Even though I can appreciate them now, I still don't put her on MC Lyte's level as an MC. As for Lyte I was a fan ever since Lyte as a Rock and up until 93' when Bo$$ debuted Born Gangstaz, I thought she was the tightest female MC. There's no question though in my mind she's still top 3 or 4. In fact, I'd have to put her over Boss at least just because of her body of work, Boss only came out with the one album and an overlooked mixtape, even though I thought that one official release was a classic.

On another note, I was listening to my old Leaders of the New School today and it's crazy just how much I use to listen to that as a high school freshman. Still remembered the lyrics to a lot of the tracks. Anyway, I was wondering, why is it that Busta Rhymes is so often overlooked in discussions of all time greatest rappers? I very rarely, if ever, hear anyone mention him in those talks. Is it because of the content (lots of party type tracks, fun stuff)? It can't be his ability.

B.G album dropping in November and a Hot Boyz Reunion in the works????

After more than a decade and ten years in the rap game, former Cash Money Millionaire B.G. is prepping his eleventh studio album, Too Hood to be Hollywood for a November 25 release on Atlantic Records

Too Hood will mark the first major label release for the New Orleans rapper since 2000’s Checkmate.

“I got TI, [Young] Jeezy and [Lil] Wayne on the album,” B.G. told HipHopDX exclusively. “It’s what the streets expect from Gizzle.”

The pairing with Atlantic Records came about through a chance conversation with label mate T.I., who called to congratulate the fellow southerner after hearing a rumor that B.G. signed to G-Unit.

“I was shopping a deal and Tip heard that I had something with Interscope. He called to congratulate me and I told him it wasn’t official. He asked what it would take to get me over to Atlantic,” B.G. says of how the deal came together. “Tip made a few phone calls and made it happen. I’m a fan of T.I., T.I. is a fan of B.G., he respects me and what I’ve done and what I’ve accomplished. I’m rocking with him 150.”

For fans of the old Cash Money sound, B.G. says the Hot Boys reunion is still in the works, as Lil Wayne and Juvenile appear on Too Hood’s first single

The fourth member of the group, Turk will also be involved in the reunion.

Turk will be home in a minute. I talk to him about five times a week. Once a Hot Boy, always a Hot Boy. We were Hot Boys, now we’re Hot Men.”

Too Hood to be Hollywood will be executive produced by T.I..
