It's all about shock value. That is their movement and it's been done before (better before too). Cage , Eminem , and Necro all did the shock rap thing but had talent. OFWGKTA is for teenagers who hate mommy and daddy because they didn't get the newest Xbox game.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Tyler is doing everyhing right so far. He's branded his style and his image. I can see hat a lot of people here dislike them but their popularity is growing extremely quick. Watching hem perform live shows on youtube, and reading the write-ups from various blogs, its easy to tell that there is a unique culture that embodies what the group is all about, again with their ever rising popularity this kind of culture is only going to grow.
Before i even clicked on this hread i knew the focus was going to be about Odd Future. I cant go to any hip-hop(or most music sites in general) site wihout seeing them being mentioned or discussed. Who was he last artist to have a buzz like this?
Again i like them, sometimes they can be a bit much as some of their stuff seems a bit childish for my taste, and im'm only 24. But I can really appreciate what Tyler is doing and all of the creativity behind it.
The kid is super talented..::..::::::::.:.:.:.:....:::.:.::::..:.:::....:::: ...:..::."When you're an assassin, you don't have a conscience"-Gilbert ArenasComment

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Maybe a month or two ago in this thread, I said I couldn't get with Talib Kweli. His flow is still a difficult listen a lot of time, but there are some bright spots on Gutter Rainbows. The price came down on Itunes and I picked it up last week. I like many of the songs.Comment

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
lol youre certainly on point with that one lmao.
First song I ever heard of his was Yonkers and it was dope I wont lie. I could even rock to Sandwitches. But every other song of theirs I have heard is straight trash. They think what theyre doing is revolutionary but It isnt. Its pretty simple, do what everybody is not and boom you get a cult following and eventually they will go real mainstream; and the next Odd Future Wolf Gang Puck team of teenagers will come out in 10 years to stir up the pot. Ive lost all interest in that group.
PS: A 9 man stable will never and has never worked.Last edited by kingkilla56; 05-09-2011, 02:01 PM.Comment

ItIt is a movement and their popularity is exploding so much that even you, way up there on your hip-hop high horse with your nose pointed to the sky, will have to acknowledge it..::..::::::::.:.:.:.:....:::.:.::::..:.:::....:::: ...:..::."When you're an assassin, you don't have a conscience"-Gilbert ArenasComment

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
lmao that's cool but you still haven't explained what the movement is. Is it a group of weird black guys? If so, they were already beat to that by D12. Also, I'm not on any kind of high horse, if it's good then I'll listen to it. I don't like crack rap but I'll listen to Clipse all day cause they have skills. If these guys were any good, I would have no problem playing their music.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters.
