He'll be touted as being a "revolutionary" and being "different" and original.

Just like people blowing their load because he used sped-up samples and soul beats, like he's the first to do it.

Pretty much. Nothing that he does is revolutionary, his whole career all he's done is copy someone else's style.

**** the more and more Pete Rock I've listened to as I got older, I've realized how many techniques and straight out samples Kanye took from him. I mean straight out USING the same breaks in the same way.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread

I never knew OS had a hip hop thread...anyway, about the only rapper I'm even feeling atm is Joe Budden...I can't believe I slept on him for this long.

I know you can listen to most of his(or whatever artist) mixtape at thatpiff.com. It's free to listen. IDK if you can buy off of there though.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to Padded Room HOPEFULLY by feb 09...

Mixtape Messiah 5 is dope, definitely give it a listen if you area Cham fan. I'm digging it more than MM4, which was good.

BTW C, Budden is insanely good. He is by far the best out, IMO. If you are interested, I can give you a link to a link where you get basically every track every, all of his freestyles as well.

I'd appreciate that. I copped his MM 3 CD a couple of weeks ago, and I swear he seems to go OFF on the rock inspired tracks like no other. He even does the depressed wordplay as well as that Eminem kid(he's nasty w/ the wordplay, but I never really felt him though).

I've been listening to rap since the mid 80's and the stuff I hear now is pretty much garbage w/ a jewel here and there. So I end up listening to mostly the mid 90's BIG, Hov, Nas, and some early 2000's Clipse(very underrated IMO) etc.. and a lot of R&B from that 90's w/ some 80's Luther and some Al Green(mom used to play Al all the time in the house when she wasn't working).
I'm also into Jazz (my grandpops is a jazz drummer...I've met quite a few legends in that genre).

But basically rap today is a catchy hook and that's about it. That's why I'm feeling Buddens atm. It's like Biggie all over again where I can close my eyes and see what he's saying...then I FEEL it...you know? There will never be another BIG(RIP) IMO, but Joey's up there for me now...

lol I hate to be "that" guy, but you like Al Green, you hate the catchy-hook heavy hip-hop of today, and you haven't heard anything special since the mid-90's or when you listen to Joey Budden...

why don't you head over here... and check this stuff out. I promise that most of the stuff we dabble about in there will not disappoint you.

I've got to be honest, I really like the new Kanye album. I was prepared for a letdown but after I got over the autotune crap I was really feeling the production and whole vibe of the album. A real chill, smooth album. He's developing a serious collection of nice albums
