Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Wale and J. Cole are two of my favs in the game right now, but no way they came close to how poetic Tupac was.Comment

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Tupac/Biggie are to me 2 of the greatest of all times, I haven't heard too much Biggie but there hasn't been a single song of them I haven't liked. Still think I haven't heard one or of 2 Tupac albums eitherLast edited by Chrisksaint; 09-08-2012, 03:17 PM.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Guys, y'all do realize that Biggie only got to put out 2 albums right? All he had to do was not go out to Cali, and I know for a damn fact his catalog would be as long as Jay-Z's and just as good.Lions, Tigers, Pistons, Michigan

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Not a single person you have ever posted would even be allowed to wash the **** off the shoes of Em, Jay, Tupac, Biggie, etc.
I would love to see the full list of 20 people you can come up with that'd even deserve to be mentioned in the same thought as any of the classics. And yes, those four and others mentioned in this thread are classic, all time greats whether you've listened to every rapper out there or not.
I can guarantee my top 20 list would look completely different and leave people shaking their head in disagreement.
And Eminem should never be mentioned in the same sentence as Jay, Tupac or Biggie.
Also would have been interesting to see what kind of music Big L. would have made with Rocafella. Unfortunately we will never know.Comment

The fact Big L JUST got the deal before being put to rest was a major bummer. I know I was hype when it was said he signed a deal to the Roc.HELLO BROOKYLN.

J. Cole isn't poetic, I mentioned him (Wale is in this category as well) as rapping about society's issues. Pretty long list, will post if you want.Last edited by Jdoug312; 09-08-2012, 03:36 PM.Comment

20 of my favorites:
GZA
Nas
Max B
K-Rino
Z-Ro
Aesop Rock
Lil Flip
Plies
Jay Electronica
MF DOOM
Young Dro
Blu
Earl Sweatshirt
Young Jeezy
Lauryn Hill
Curren$y
RZA
Hurricane Chris
Lecrae
Danny Brown
Meh, just a rough list. Em and Biggie may crack in there on some days. Tupac and Jay just bore me. Sorry.
DOOM, Aesop Rock, Nas, RZA, Earl, and Blu are actually better than Jay, Pac, and Biggie technically. With Em, you could argue.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

If Biggie didn't get shot, how much of an impact do you think it would have had on Jay Z and Nas career path?"Ma'am I don't make the rules up. I just think them up and write em down". - Cartman

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
You're on Bath Salts and Dippas if you think V-Nasty and Kreayshawn are very good female rappers, unless your standards for female rappers are reallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll low, LOL.
The Hurricane Chris part ****ed me up too just for the fact that I wasn't expecting that at all.
Even Lil Flip caught me off guard because Flip last hot joint was The Leprechaun and that was over 12 years ago and I'm not counting his crap he put out once he went mainstream status.
DOOM, Aesop Rock, Nas, RZA, Earl, and Blu are actually better than Jay, Pac, and Biggie technically. With Em, you could argue.
Can you imagine the club bangers Biggie would have put out in the 2000's. Same thing with Big Pun. **** would have been amazing.
But yeah:
-Big L is/was the best rapper to come from NY with Biggie a close second.
-Jay Z has 2 classic albums(Reasonable Doubt and Blueprint). Everything else has either been average or mediocre.
-P.Diddy and the Family-The Saga Continues is an underrated album.
-Restless by Trae Tha Truth is a classic album that never gets enough credit.#RespectTheCultureComment
