Encore was a hot pile of doo doo. Slim Shady LP, Marshall Mathers LP, and The Eminem Show were pretty damn good though. The Eminem Show did have some throwaways on it, but still a very solid album.
The Eminem Show was his last good album and that was 8 years ago. Nothing he has released since then has been any good.

I need a new roommate. Today he told me Maino is the best rapper from New York. I didn't think he was serious at first, but oh he was. I told him I could name at least 50 rappers from NY better then him.

He is an idiot. He told me, "don't even say Nas, Jay-Z. Notorious B.I.G" because they are garbage.

And then he got offended when I told him you don't know anything about rap thats why your favorite rapper is lil wayne. He said lil wayne is the best rapper and the proof is how much he sells.

I just laughed and left the room. I can't talk to that dude anymore.

Yeeap, that's a mainstream groupie for ya. One of my best friends and I got into an argument when he said Wayne (now) goes harder than Em.

His reasoning? He hates Em because he's some 'suicidal white kid', and he has Wayne's 'back'. I told him one of Wayne's line from the "Forever" remix, and he said it was stupid, but when I told him that was Wayne's line and not Em's, all of a sudden it was gold. Em talks about personal ish and his ish is deep, and that's some 'suicidal ****', but Wayne raps about nothing of substance, and he's the hottest.

Friends like yours are the type of people that think just because you're mainstream and all your songs play at the club, you're the 'hottest' or best rapper out. I guarantee you people will say Gucci Mane is the best out right now since Wayne's gone.

I know exactly what you saying man I got a friend thats the same way. He was telling me he got Wayne in his top 5 rappers of all time.

I was like what are you serious?!? He told me he didn't like Em and that's fine but I couldn't believe he had Wayne so high. He don't really know hip hop though he just knows who gets played the most. I'm like Em would destroy him but he's like whatever Em's not hot like Wayne is.

Its not really bout the rappers ability just his popularity you know? I mean Wayne probably has the ability to write some good stuff but he has no substance. So most of it don't make sense anyway.

And its like people be goin crazy over the stupidest lines just because it was Lil Wayne that said it. I dont get it, I just laugh it off and don't bother tryin to explain myself there's no point.

              Preach, brother, preach.

Wayne was probably my favorite rapper of all-time because of his work pre 2007, but he is isn't even in my top 5 now. That's because I opened up to new and better rappers like Lupe, Wale, Charles Hamiltion, Em, BoB, etc.

But kids now a days go crazy over these lame one-liners. And it's all about popularity. And whoever is the most popular is the 'best'.

I'm the one that put my two best friends on to Wayne back in the day (Carter II), but now I want to put them on guys like Lupe. My roommate says he doesn't like Lupe, which is beyond me.

Like him, most are just mainstream groupies anyways.

So, I've been listening to B.O.B all week. Overall its a good album, just some minor things I don't like. I like BOB's verses throughout and I think the guest spots are nice. I like the diversity amongst the songs and styles. I'm not a big mainstream head, so parts of the songs kind of sound forced and I don't really like the selection of Hayley Williams to sing the hook in Airplanes, but overall its a very enjoyable album though I think his best songs are on his mixtapes.

Yeah I tried explaining to him that just because you sell the most records does not mean you are the best rapper. I use to like Lil Wayne and still listen to some of his songs from a few years ago, but any of his stuff since about 2007 is pure garbage. Everyone has their opinions I guess but I still am shaking my head when he said Maino is the best rapper in New York, ever.

The album has grown on me a lot over the week. It's not Illmatic for a debut album, but it's a nice album. Some of the beats and choruses hamper the songs a lot.

Personally, I like Airplanes, but don't like the verses on Part 2.

Personally I love The Carter and Carter II has its moments. I don't really like most of his recent stuff, but he still has decent verses occasionally.

As with most movies, music, and sports issues, it's not so much Lil Wayne, but as you guys have said, the stans. At least up here it's pretty limited to frat boys who have never listened to anything outside of MTV thinking he's the "best rapper alive" since we finally have a local guy. Really saying your favorite rapper now is anyone but Wale is heavily frowned upon.

I love The Carter also and that really got me into Lil Wayne. Carter II was also solid, but now with his singing crap and autotune crap I just can't stand it.

The only current Lil Wayne song I listen to is Drop the World feat Eminem when I workout because it helps me for some reason.

Yeah, the autotune is irritating, as is his general lack of lyrical ability.

To me, the real annoying person of Cash Money is Baby. I swear to God that bama pays to be on songs. At least Wayne has one or two clever punchlines in his songs. Birdman can't seem to string together a rhyme beyond "the cat has a hat."

                          1) I agree. I don't listen to a lot of mainstream stuff, but during some of the songs I will get that deja vu feeling.

                          2) I'm the opposite - I like Part 2 more than Part 1.

Birdman is absolutely terrible. I put him at the bottom of the barrel of Rap along with Soulja Boy and Tony Yayo.

And I really like B.o.B. album. Airplanes pt. 2 is my favorite song on it. Love the verses and love Hayley Williams on it. Eminem's verse is also good on it.

Past My Shades or Fame is probably my favorite track at the moment, though I really dig Magic with Rivers Cuomo - I can dream about a B.o.B and Rivers Cuomo album right?

Same. The Carter I was that album for me back when it came out. That and his "The Drought is Over" mixtapes as well as some of his other work on other tracks got me to love Wayne.

Now, he's just lazy (to me at least) because A) most people that listen to hippop don't care about lyrics and just want something with a good beat, or B) Wayne fans are at least going to give his stuff a look and listen to it anyways. Wayne's so big, it honestly doesn't even matter what he says, it'll sell, which is sad.

I hated that rock **** so much, but I and every one of you know why he did it.

And Cebby, you're right. At least Wayne gets off with a decent track or verse every now or then, or at least a 'good' one-liner. Birdman is just garbage. It's wash, rinse, repeat with everyone of his songs.
