Alright let's have some fun. Post your unpopular rap music opinions. Be it a popular artists that you don't like or an album you can't get down with that is widely praised. Whatever it may be, state your opinions.

I'll start with some newer artists that are overrated and not worth the hype they receive.

Wale
J. Cole
Big Sean
Asap Rocky

I don't know about that. J Cole is nice when he's just spitting something. He does make boring and or depressing music though.

I like Wale. Pre MMG though.

Big Sean is a guilty pleasure rapper of mine so no comment.

Asap is another guilty pleasure of mine so no comment.

For me, I would add Kendrick to the list. Dude can spit, but it's a tad overboard.

Disagree with this. Section 80 is a classic.

terrible...boring...wooooow!! i admit he does absolutely nothing for me now...but man from like '96-'03 or so...jay was LEGEND! jay was instant cop status the day it dropped without even hearing a song yet. he was the only rapper that had me going to buy his cd's...cuz any other time it was to buy a 50pk of cd-r's

as far as me and my unpopular opinion:

-i think wale is wack and all the rest of mmg (beats/prod are good tho)
-i dont get meek mill hype and never have...although i respect the long grind.
-i think lupe past food and liquor is trash
-i also hated watch the throne. felt it was overproduced "noise". didnt even d/l it for free after listening to it all
-kanye past graduation is trash (except maybe a verse or 3)
-eminem is garbage past the eminem show
-wiz khalifa makes good music, esp when with curren$y. and old wiz = new wiz - increasingly funky wardrobe
-curren$y is top 10 in the game since '08/'09
-max b is the greatest most versatile rapper in the game since '06 and can murder ANY beat from any time period and had the hardest grind b4 getting wrapped up a few yrs ago. curren$y even admitted to stealing max's work ethic cuz he saw how it touched the fans and help keep consistent music out there

Whoa Whoa Whoa...no...no. Disagree with the notion that Kanye is trash in its entirety. Kanye and trash don't even belong in the same sentence.

Wiz makes terrible music. Currensy brings the best out of him. Thier styles mesh really well together.

The Cool was better than Food & Liquor

Late Registration was Kanye's best album (College Dropout being a close second)

Watch the Throne and MBDTF were both trash aside from a couple of songs

2 Chainz and Waka Flocka are two of the worst rappers out there.

Agreed. Though 2 Chainz is better than Waka. At least he can be clever 1 out of every 20 songs. Waka is clever....never. Except for that Dragonball line. That made me LOL.

2000s rap > 90s rap

Rakim is boring.

Nicki Minaj is one of the best mainstream rappers out.

This is a wash. I wasn't listening to rap in the 90's.
Never heard a song of his.
Nicki is worse than 2 Chainz.
I like both equally well.

As for my own list...

1.) I think Jay-Z is terrible
2.) I think Kanye is the most entertaining rapper to listen to

as far as 2000s > than 90's ....boi stop. all i say to that is 90's new york and 90's west coast. im sorry but this is undebateable imho. pac, biggie, wu tang, mobb deep, nas, jayz, dogg pound, snoop, dre, outkast, lost boyz, grand puba, bone, eazy e, mc eiht, dj quik, guru, goodie mob, all the no limit camp(thats like 100 ppl haha) ....thats enough...dont even need to go on....thats plenty to kill that 2000s is greater noise.

u can have wale...he's kinda boring to me. rakim is timeless man...i cant agree with that but hey i respect ya opinion. nicki minaj....sorry but foxy brown or lil kim or mia x woulda ate her alive if she was out back then. now nicka minaj wins by default...no real women artist out like back in the day.

duke i like kanye...dont get me wrong...and i know im gonna sound bitter...but i liked him before all the over production took over. hes clever no doubt and he has lines in songs that i always rap to myself outta nowhere from current features...but i just wish he would (i hate saying this cuz it annoys me when ppl say it all the time) go back to his 1st three albums style with the production and flow. i know its not gonna happen so ill stick to liking his features and rapping his lamborghini mercy verse in my head...thats my shhhh...."i do suicides on da touuur bus" "gimme 50 miiiilllion or iiimma quit" lol

ill never forget when he hit me with that thru the wire video...i was sold from there. i was on the team like this dude is gonna be nice and he on the roc. no idea he'd get THIS big...but im just not a fan like i was. i prefer his features and production for others than i like his own music these days.

yea dude max b is my boy. i never thought id agree wit u cuz u usually post up garbage. im one of the few that actually prolly watch the vids u post with an open mind. just dont be feeling half the stuff u listen too. but even ill admit a few of the lil b songs are ok when it appears he tries...but imma eat her azz....nah man thats where i get lost in his appeal. and why does he always look like he rollin on a e pill? lol

Kreashawn and vnasty....come on man...those chicks suck horribly. have u ever heard of mia x?? if not...go back and get unlady like. give that a whirl and come back and see if u still feeling that "white girl mob" bs. u prolly like em cuz they mess with lil b. mia x was harder than a lot of dudes back in the day. she was raw...only chick in no limit and she held her own lyrically. i played her cd more than alot of the guys in da camps cds.

im gonna say lyrically...from the 90s up....foxy or mia x. there was alot more chicks in the late 80s but i cant recall lyrics really from that far back...but i always remember mc lyte coming with it. she always stood out to me. currently i gota say nicki minaj by default...not too many chicks out i know of. im watching this lola monroe project wiz messing with...i see potential in her but i dunno

Jay-Z bores the **** out of me. Always has. I think he's terrible.

J. Cole - His music should come with a Tempur-Pedic bed. Puts me to sleep.

2Pac is the most gassed rapper of all time. I could count the number of songs I like form him on 1 hand.

The Slim Shady LP is Eminem's only album that's any good. Never mind a classic album, he doesn't even possess a classic song.

MBDTF was trash aside from a couple of songs

fly3 i cant recall the names of all the ppl that u post id call garbage cuz u post alot of unknowns. but thats why i always give em a chance with a open mind...im always lookn for my new fav rapper to keep me listening to rap thats current. cuz honestly except for a few ppl these days...i could easily cut off all rap music after like 2005 and not feel like im missing much. honestly thats kinda sad cuz i love rap too much.

good ones duke with rah digga and eve...forgot bout them. rah was almost as good as busta when they were rockin together

as for unpopular opinions, Biggie was wack outside of Unbelievable. Never did like him even when he was rocking here in the NYC area. In fact i think i was the only guy around here playing 2pac albums at that time...

My unpopular opinions:
-All things considered in what makes a good artist good, there are current rappers > 2pac and BIG.
-Joe Budden is the best rapper in the game despite his off the mic antics
-Lil Wayne was never good.
-Only Built 4 Cuban Linx and 36 Chambers are overrated, average albums
-Reasonable Doubt is on par with Illmatic's greatness, and Jay-Z's career catalog > Nas
-Kendrick Lamar is overrated and can't ride a beat very well
-Black Hippy in general is overrated and make average music
-Lupe's Lasers album was pretty good. I actually enjoyed him rapping on those poppy dubstep beats.
-Blueprint 3 was pretty good
-Jadakiss is an overrated lyricist (I feel bad saying this since he was one of the first rappers I got into)
-Pusha T has also become an overrated lyricist and shouldn't be in the question for best rapper alive (home state bias aside)


That's all I can think of right now.
