Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Wow, this movie was terribly all over the place, no real sense of direction whatsoever. Characters were thrown in there like they were nothing, all of the new Transformers were utter crap, and I think the CGI was actually even worse in this one (not overall effects, but the way the robots blend in with the real world).

I'm actually surprised to say I don't think I'll be buying this on Blu-ray, though it does have some demo-worthy material.

Did someone say M.Bay and the word plot in the same sentence shame on you. But I do think it was 30 minutes to long and they tried to hard to be funny.

Michael Bay was at my midnight premiere....which was ****in' awesome.

Movie itself was pretty darn good in my opinion, but I'm pretty sure I liked the first one more.

Thank goodness for Bootleg DVDs which saved me a trip to the movies. It was alright at best but I also agree that they did make the movie longer than it should and once again tried way too hard to be funny. I'd go see it again in the Movies as long as I don't have to pay.

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is a horrible experience of unbearable length, briefly punctuated by three or four amusing moments. One of these involves a dog-like robot humping the leg of the heroine. Such are the meager joys. If you want to save yourself the ticket price, go into the kitchen, cue up a male choir singing the music of hell, and get a kid to start banging pots and pans together. Then close your eyes and use your imagination. The plot is incomprehensible. The dialog of the Autobots, Deceptibots and Otherbots is meaningless word flap. Their accents are Brooklyese, British and hip-hop, as befits a race from the distant stars. Their appearance looks like junkyard throw-up.

There are many great-looking babes in the film, who are made up to a flawless perfection and look just like real women, if you are a junior fanboy whose experience of the gender is limited to wank magazines."

Did anyone else see it in Imax? I was really disappointed the entire thing was not filmed in Imax. We only got about 5-7 minutes of actual Imax footage, the rest had black bars on top and bottom.

That was the first time I had been to the Imax for a real movie, now I am gonna have to see something like Harry Potter to get the full experience.

I would have suspected that from the beginning. To me that would be worth it (hopefully it was the scene with the trees and maybe some of the end scene parts) though.

Mine ended up being sold out as of early this morning, so I just saw it in a regular theater.

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Saw the movie at midnight last night (which was a big mistake since I had to be up at 6:30 to go take two tests), and I enjoyed it. I thought it was just as good as the first one, but more in its own way.

Yes, they tried to hard to be funny, but at least it WAS funny and it wasn't poor attempts at humor. People were laughing out loud more at this movie than any other movie I've ever been to.

Also the story wasn't the greatest..
                    Spoiler
but the movie was ENJOYABLE, which is why I went to go see it. I've learned to not pay any attention to what reviewers or other people are saying so that I can actually judge the movie for myself and determine whether I like it or not.

All in all, I really liked the movie. It served it's purpose. Anyone who liked the first one will probably like it, and I'll probably go see it again during the day sometime so I'm not dead tired while watching it.

Man you got to give them props for at least getting Jet Fire right..... in the cartoons 1984-1985 he was found as a Decepticon....and went over to the autobot side........I was so happy to see that.... I'm 33 so I grew up with the Gen 1 toy and all that. The two things that still bothers me are Megatrons voice and the lack of Soundwave in the movie and certainly Soundwaves voice. Growing up watching the cartoons that was one of the coolest things was hearing Soundwave talk with that synthizied voice..... Anyways I like the movie I think anyone who grew up around this time will too.

Overall i thought the movie was great! I saw it in IMAX and it was def IMAX throughout. M Fox played her part PERFECTLY and there were plenty of slow mo run scenes to fill open time slots! I also thought there were some pretty bad*** fight scenes

                            It wasn't IMAX throughout though

I’m not trying to stir up shit here. This just seems like common sense to me. Though it’s not even in cinemas yet, all signs are pointing to the eventual Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen Blu-ray release getting The Dark Knight treatment: aspect ratios that shift between 1.78:1 and 2.4:1 to approximate the theatrical experience of watching the film in IMAX. Michael Bay, outspoken Blu-ray enthusiast, shot four scenes with an IMAX camera and rendered the CGI robots in 4K resolution - a first for this style of special effect - to take advantage of the stupidly large 53ft tall screen. According to the director, those high-res scenes play longer in the IMAX cut of the film, shafting those poor souls who only experience the 35mm version out of a further few minutes of manic robot action. It only stands to reason that this cut will be the director’s preferred version to appear on Blu-ray as well, shifting IMAX ratios intact, no doubt shafting DVD purchasers out of the extended cut as well. Michael Bay posted this statement on his official forum Sunday night: ...Continued...
