Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Saw the movie earlier. No desire to see it again in a theater, that's for sure. There were some genuinely funny/entertaining moments; I enjoyed the back and forth between Sam's parents and some of the other moments of comic relief. But the movie was a good 30-45min too long. Lots of the writing was groan-inducing; too much cursing, just really unnecessary - by the robots no less. Megan Fox seemed to have no purpose other than to look as hot as she could in each shot she was in. The two "urban" robots were silly and poorly written.

I wasn't a huge fan of the first one when I initially saw it, but it grew on me some. This one seemed to have no restraint and did nothing to build on the Transformers mythos, other than characters appearing for no apparent reason. Some of the robots seemed capable of literally doing anything; it just didn't make sense.
HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

For those that are curious, here is my tally of the deaths of Autobots/Decepticons from the two movies. I feel that this gives a dcent picture of my issue with Bay and the series. For as much as RotF improved on the robot combat, it still fell short of what I desired in that category.

I really hope Sideswipe gets more screentime in the next movie. Both his car and robot mode look sick.

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Here are a bunch of random thoughts on Transformers 2:

              - Did a bunch of 14 year olds write the script for Transformers 2? The dialogue was all kinds of epic fail.

              - The 2 “urban” robots had no place in the film. They weren’t funny. What’s next for Transformers 3? 2 Asian robots that will say Ching Chong in the film?

              - I noticed they removed all of Megan Fox’s tattoos. I know I’m in the minority here, but I don’t think she’s even that attractive. She looks like a pRon star to me.

              - I didn’t know Rainn Wilson was in the movie. His scenes were actually funny.

              - For a movie that is suppose to be aimed at kids (as well as adults) why did Bay decide to include HMA? I could understand the decision if it was a Apatow or Smith flick, but not in a Transformers film.

              - This type of movie caters to people who don’t want to think when watching a film but most of the action scenes were pretty good. Despite all my negative points, I would still give the movie a B

                  1) Uh...nope. I thought his stupid perv professor scenes were utterly terrible. The fact that he was in one of the two "post credits" scenes was sad. Should have been Megatron saying something to his minions or something, bridging movie two to movie three (like Starscream heading to the stars in the first one).

                  2) What is HMA? I've hated all those Apatow films (save '40 Year Old Virgin') so maybe I'm just out of the loop.

Once again it had no place in a film such as Transformers. Hopefully Bay does a commentary on the DVD so I can hear his explanation for this.

It was entertaining and that's all I wanted from the movie. I loved the fight scenes this time, in the first one it was hard to see what was going on but in this one it looked like they mo capped two people fighting and it looked alot better.

Their funniest scene was their introduction, when they were rolling around in the ice cream truck going, "Beep beep, who wants some ice cream?" Sounded creepy haha.

Saw it yesterday. I didn't like it as much as the first, but it was solid, summer big movie entertainment.

                            Cons:
                            Juvenile humor, especially the twins.
                            Failure to explain

                            Pros:
Much more interaction between the Decepticons than in the first movie
Pretty amazing action sequences, especially the fight in the forest

The only thing (other than the length) that bothered me was all the little robots. As a big Transformers fan from the cartoon series and the toys I never remembered all the micro or tiny robots. I do understand it was added to show off some CGI or creativity but it got to be a little over the top.

Also, I liked the old Starscream voice but I know the guy who did that voice is dead now.

Saw it Sunday evening. I liked it for what it was a CGI summer movie that had laughs, explosions and good CGI. It's not like this was going to be an Oscar nominated movie. The twins didn't bother me terribly probably because I had been reading about them sense Wednesday. It did what I want out of summer blockbusters. So I left the theater happy.

I do think that the military's involvement in Egypt was a little much, but it is what it is. I do wonder if at some point will the Decepticons ever gain a decisive victory. Not destroy the world type but something. They have pretty much had their asses handed to them, if that is always going to happen how much longer before the war is over?
