The airplane gizmo he used to pull himself out of the building in Japan.
And the final gadget of hacking into all the cellphones to give him a sonar ability.

To me they felt way over the top.
And I know, I know. It's a movie about a guy in a bat suit. But I felt the first film was far more grounded in realism than the 2nd.

There were quite a few things in TDK that felt overly "comic-booky" to me.

I still consider Batman Begins to be the better of the two films.

Yeah I mean come on. That is not so real! But a grown man in a Bat Suit is!

Come on Hank, this is Batman, not realman. If Batman was real he would have been killed in one of his fights by now.

I hear what you are saying, but Batman is still a comic hero. So it will still have its unbelievable stuff. Which is OK with me. I grew up watching the Batman TV show. That was pretty cheesy, but I loved it. And when my mom's high school friend was in it twice. Sid Haig. I asked him tons of questions about it. It was great. I found out about the Batcave and how when they slid down the poles it lead to the basement of the stage and it didn't really lead to the batcave. I was bummed about that, but oh well.

If they go the A. Asylum theme, I hope it is dark and scary. That place is intense in the game and some comics too.

With the way TDK left off with Batman basically being the focus of an all-out manhunt, I'm not sure how or why Batman would get himself inside the walls of Arkham.

The police catch Batman, and the court rules that the millionaire who dresses up like a bat and jumps around from rooftop to rooftop is insane and send him to Arkham. Not really a stretch since he might actually be insane.

I actually think it's pretty easy to get him in there.

Once everybody knows who batman is well that will be the end of batman. You can't do that.

Like Scott said people can't find out who Batman is but I bet with his connections and such he can fake some other identity before getting thrown into Arkham. Basically, your idea makes a ton of sense and I can see it, or a very close aproximation happening.

Remember, once Bruce Wayne drives off into the night that night and parks his Batpod wherever it is he does, then takes off the suit... he is now Bruce Wayne. They won't be able to find Batman anywhere afterwards.

As long as he is not dressed in the suit, he can go wherever he wants (with permission, of course).

Let me amend my previous idea, because I didn't think of the whole "nobody can know who he is" angle.

Bruce Wayne goes insane. No Batman, no Rachel, he goes nuts. Bruce Wayne is then sentenced to do time in Arkham. When in Arkham, one of the Batman supervillians (one Joe Public has heard of) organizes a mass escape. While the escape is happening, Batman does all he can to stop it. When Wayne isn't there anymore after this is all done, authorities just assume he got away when the whole thing first started. Nobody finds out he's Batman in that scenario, and we could potentially see insanity.

Probably a horrible idea, but I tried.

Apparently pre-production is well under way as BOF are getting reports of scouting in Chicago and filming may start this year.

That's too bad in a way, I would have preferred this was coming out in 2012, not 2011.

We'll see when it actually does come out though.

Why would it potentially coming out a year earlier than you thought it would be a bad thing?

It's two things, really.

1) I just don't want any sort of rush for this movie. I want everything to be completely ironed out and be as perfect as it can be, and sometimes that takes time. Nolan's head cannot be clear right now, he's still in post-production with Inception and his mind is more than likely geared towards that movie. One reason I like him so much is because he takes on one thing at a time. I really want this next Batman to be everything that The Dark Knight wasn't, and for it to be the epic of all epics.

2) I just think it's too early. I understand that Batman Begins and The Dark Knight were three years apart, but I'm just not ready for a new Batman, not any time soon. The Dark Knight is still so fresh to me, it still feels like it just came out last summer for some reason. I understand that summer 2011 is still like 15 months away, but that's just how I feel. I think a crowd that doesn't quite have The Dark Knight still in the back of their minds will be more amped to see a new Batman, not so suddenly. That's how I am, at least. Not to say that I'm burned with it, but I want to re-up my feelings for the series... just not yet, though.


It's more of a mental thing than anything else, even if it isn't real to some of you... but 2012 makes more sense to me is all.
