Re: The Dark Knight Rises
I'm assuming we can at least all agree on it better being Bane than say the Penguin or Mr. Freeze, right? lol.Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
SpoilerThen maybe my entire problem isn't with Bane, but rather that they held off from reveling Talia all along as the mastermind.
I feel like that was ridiculously rushed and should have turned her at the board meeting when Bane intervenes.Too Old To Game Club

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
SpoilerHere's the stupid part: Nolan wanted to ground his movie in "reality" yet had the supposedly biggest city in the world held hostage by some nuclear bomb with a guy and his mercenary arm hid in the sewers, but we couldn't get the real Lazarus Pit? I mean, how awesome would this movie have been if it was Ra's and Bane against Batman?
And I feel so bad for saying this, because I LOVE Tom Hardy. I think he did Bane a great service in this movie, because Bane's character doesn't lend itself to easy expansion.
I think it was just poor story choice. Bane the Villain is not meant to be running on his own, formulating his own plans. His character has always worked best when he was being controlled by someone.
SpoilerMy off the wall best story I could think of theory was that the whole "Rise" theme would really be for Ra's and being "risen" back to life somehow with a lazarus pit with Bane and Talia's help. Fricking badazz possible story right there. Has more depth and emotion than the storyline they used in my opinion. The Ohio State University

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
The only problem was trying to live up to the Dent/Joker double dose of perfection. I don't think any story could ever do that.Last edited by DorneyDave86; 07-20-2012, 11:51 PM.Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
I hope they are all OK. I didn't know anyone that went to that theatre last night. This incident has really tempered my exictement for this movie. I'll see it, but I think I may wait until I get to NY next week.
My wife was pretty shaken up by the news; she was in a school shooting a couple of years ago (no fatalities, but still very scary) so it's very understandable her reaction to it all.
I saw the movie this afternoon and I was definitely on edge a bit. It was a little difficult to pay attention to the first hour or so because I kept seeing people move in my peripheral vision and a security guard doing rounds in the theater. But eventually I lost myself in the movie, as I usually do, and really enjoyed it.Comment

SpoilerWhen the bat flew over the cops and they all cheered and charged...I may have peed a little. I LOVED that moment. I was ready to join in the fight in my seat.Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
SpoilerPossibly. However, I really do disagree with your assessment of Bane. I love when he is running the show in comics such as Knightfall and the Batman vs. Bane graphic novel collection. So I really didn't have issues with either him or Talia. I thought he was really well done. I actually enjoyed the backstory they gave him as well.

I prefer Bane to be physical and tactical with brains backing him up. I wish they would have been more forthright in presenting Talia. Having her being the mastermind at the end fell very flat for me, but I think it's because of the preconceived thoughts I already have about the Talia character.Too Old To Game Club

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
Thankfully, yes. I did find out that the friend of a brother of a girl I worked with (I know, confusing) was shot twice and was in emergency surgery this morning. Last I heard he was still in critical condition.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
SpoilerI felt like that whole scenario was very forced. Her infiltration into Wayne Ent. and as a love interest to Bruce, and then all of a sudden all these corrupt people are on his board of trustees when Lucious and Bruce always kept a very tight ship at Wayne Enterprises. And maybe that was because he was in hiding, but again that story line was very rushed and underdeveloped. Just all had the "lets get it over with" feel.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

I'm not overly attached to her, so I just appreciated they got her in. Also, I think going back and watching it a second time knowing the twist will make Marion's performance stand out.Comment
