Should be seeing it in IMAX today. I'm real excited. Knowing what happens will let me focus on the little things and the performances a bit more. Plus I'm going to go into it with a these negative reviews in my head so I'll probably like it even more.

I don't think I could ever rank this series because every time I see Begins its the best movie of the three but then I watch TDK and it reminds me how awesome it was, and I assume Rises will be the same way when I can watch it at my own free will.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
Anyways, ******* what.a.movie. I ****ing loved every second of it. It might have been almost 3 hours long, but this was one of those times where it felt like even that wasn't enough. I could have easily sat in the theater another hour.
Personally, I loved the movie just as much as TDK. I think the TDK is a better film -- although this is with me having seen that who knows how many times and only having seen TDKR once -- but TDKR is just so epic. Everything is done on such a grand scale and it was really just incredible.
The cast was amazing, which has been the case throughout the entire trilogy. Catwoman was done pretty much perfectly and Bane was just badass (but hard to understand at times).
The fight scenes with Batman and Bane were great. I loved how they were just straight up slugfests and how Bane's sheer force and power played off of Batman's desperation and will power.
As for the end,SpoilerI could have went either way with them killing Bruce. I thought they really did once they had the funeral scene. I can honestly admit it took a bit of effort to hold back tears when Alfred was speaking there. And when he does see Bruce with Selina at the end, I liked that moment, I just wish they hadn't already done the flashback-style scene with Alfred hoping to see Bruce when he originally left Gotham because when you see Alfred in that exact same location, you know he's probably going to see Bruce there.
I can't see how they could have wrapped this trilogy up in a better way. It took everything to such an epic scale and you could just feel all of the emotion built up in the final act that it seriously felt like my heart rate was raisingSpoiler(specifically at the start of that final battle when Batman drops in with the Batwing and then both groups just charge at each other - wow).
I can easily say this movie lived up to my expectations. I knew as soon as the credits hit that this was one of the best movies I'd ever seen, the same way I felt at the end of The Dark Knight.
I need to go see this again. Badly.Last edited by BlueNGold; 07-21-2012, 09:36 AM.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

BTW about Bane being the villainSpoilerif you really think about it, Bane is not the true villain, it's Talia. Just like begins where the Scarecrow and the mob really weren't the main bad, it was RasDON'T PANICComment

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
SpoilerWhile I really enjoyed it, I fall somewhere in the middle. I feel most are being really over critical, but I understand why. TDK was as close to perfection as comic book movies are going to get, so the same was expected here. My biggest issue was with the moments of time lapse already mentioned.
I thought Tom Hardy, who is one of my favorite actors, was fabulous as Bane. However, as menacing as he was, I also would have preferred his voice had been closer to the earlier version of it. Regardless, as hard as it was to match up to Heath, I thought he did an admirable job.
I thought the interactions with Bruce and Alfred were great. Both Bale and Caine really turned in great performances. JGL was fantastic as Blake as well. Really excited about him possibly taking over as Batman in future movies.
Overall, I really liked the movie. However, like most everyone else, TDK is always going to be the movie to compare to when it comes to Batman.
I'd rate the series TDK>TDKR>BB.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
I thought it was a good movie, not great, definitely no where near TDK. I agree with most of the criticisms jmood had about it.
SpoilerJGL stole the show IMO. All I want is for him to take the role of Batman now, and I think from the amount of screen time he got (it might have been even more than Bale) its pretty clear what Nolan's intentions were.
The other new characters I wasn't as high on. I think Tom Hardy is a great actor, but he's wasted as Bane. With the amount that his voice was distorted they really could have gotten any muscled up guy and thrown him in that role and you wouldn't miss much. You never really get any emotion from him in the movie.
Hathaway was okay as Kyle. Her and Talia's characters were definitely better than the love interests in the first 2 Nolan films, which I always felt was the weakest part of the first 2 films. So I guess Nolan improved in this respect, actually having interesting female leads, but I wasn't blown away by them.
The one other thing that bothered me was just how some of the events went unexplained. Alfred leaves and then you never hear from him again until the end? How did Batman get back to Gotham? I assume he probably has some secret entrance to his batcave and he said he'd show it to Selina, but we never got to see a thing.
I did think the ending was very well done though. Even though you could see the Talia twist coming it was still well done. I feel like Nolan read my mind for Bane's death. During the final battle I was hoping JGL or Gordon would just show up and shoot Bane in the face. Catwoman blasting him with the Bat Bike and rubbing it in to Batman sufficed though.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment
