Yep, my wife and I were really wincing throughout that scene.

From what I remember, people were really complaining about his voice in the prologue. Nolan and co overreacted and pushed him too far forward in the mix.

From what I understand, people are complaining now.

He should have done a second test screening or something, because it's ridiculous that his ears are superior than ours. I know he's God's descendant and everything, but didn't he once consider that the reason Bane's voice wasn't understood wasn't because the LFE's were too low?

Nolan is just kind of a funny dude sometimes.

Saw the movie once so far but have plans to see it two more times. Trying to take my dad to go see it and then the GF when she returns.

Just saw it for the 2nd time last night...First 2/3 of movie is still awesome...best was the first big fight scene, but these movies consistently have a mediocre 3rd act. I'm not sure why

my main issues with the movie:

-Talia's death was so poorly done and acted by Marion. I couldn't help but laugh at it. Bane's death was so quick and anticlimatic. sigh.
-so the police have been trapped underground for 3 months, but when they get out there's no wear on them at all...I just had a issue with that. They were all living in the sewers for months
-so bruce's back is broken, but it takes him a few weeks to have it fully healed and working out? seems rather illogical to me. I know his spirit was repaired as well, but this was a broken back with vertabrae sticking out.
-gotham looks so clean during the 3 months when everything is in chaos....
-i wish they made it shorter than bruce was "retired". 8 yrs seems like a really long time to just sit around and hobble around. Also Alfred is such a dick for just seeing bruce mope around and not telling him the truth. it just seems too unrealistic.

and my main problem with these movies overall is that bruce is only batman for like what....8 months? Between BB and TDK, it was a 6 month gap. and between TDK and TDKR is 8 years....so he hasn't been batman at all really.

I second that, especially considering how much TDKR circles back around to the first film in many ways.

I started writing my thoughts about this film earlier and stopped for a bit. I'm still trying to soak this film in and see where it stands with the trilogy. I have mixed emotions with a few things, but at times, it feels like its the best in the trilogy even though The Joker is my all-time favorite villain with Bane following a close second in the DC universe. There were two times where TDKR had me slightly tear up in the theater.

If I do have one slight disappointment is that Two-Face did not get to realize his full potential as a villain, but was used in a way to link the second and third films together.

I will say that the ending should have been with Alfred, Gordon, Fox, and Blake standing at the grave site. I could stomach the ending with Blake going into the batcave and leaving things open for interpretation. I did not like that earlier in the movie having Alfred tell Bruce that every year during that 7 year hiatus he was hoping he would see Bruce with a family in France or wherever he said he would go on vacation. Then at the end we have Alfred go to his vacation spot, and he sees both Bruce with Selina. I didn't want to see Bruce/Batman dead, but also did not want to see the same scenes with Alfred again.

The fight scenes should of been beyond awesome between Bane and Batman, I didn't feel like they reached their full potential due to the choreographer used. Bane is a force to reckon with and he did have me many times throughout the movie fear for Batman and anyone that got in the way. I loved that the Nolan's wrote Bane in a way where he wasn't over the top, but would of like to of seen the venom in some capacity. It goes back to the Nolan's not wanting to make these films so cartoonish that they end up coming off as being cheesy several years down the road.

Again, Hardy was awesome as Bane........he was a menacing brute force. Obviously we know he breaks Batman's back, but the looks from his eyes were quite creepy. I did hate how his voice was recorded though. It sounded like he was speaking in a tin can, like those bad voice overs in games.

I was quite surprised with Talia being Miranda just like with Liam Neeson being Ra's Al Ghul at the end of BB. It was well done imo and I am glad that it was kept as a secret the entire time because I feel that it would of taken away from the story had we known it was Talia all along.

I am glad that we did not get an Azrael sighting. I learned to hate him in the KnightQuest storyline with a passion.

I also like Jonathan Crane being the judge, it was cool to see him back with a longer role than TDK.

I don't know how to feel with all the flashbacks. I think they went a bit overboard with them. Then telling Bane's origin with those flashbacks was kind of meh for me. They really should of done something earlier in the film and not wait till the end to do that. It could of been done in a way without revealing that Miranda was Talia since they wanted to have a big reveal at the end.

BTW, The Killer Croc reference was freaking awesome.

I really think The Black Mask could of worked well here in the third film as the major villain tying him back to Ra's. I think the whole mob route that the Nolan's were going with from the first two films could have continued here in the third.

Hoping to have more fleshed out thoughts sometime tomorrow.

I wanted Black Mask from the beginning as he would have been the perfect villain for a No Man's Land like Gotham. Instead I feel they somewhat achieved the No Man's Land Gotham but failed on the why they achieved it. Like mentioned why did we wait 5 months for the timer to go down when the trigger could have been pressed right away? Bane mentioned about making Batman suffer while he was crippled and watch his Gotham suffer but it just doesn't seem the League way. If Ra's was in charge he would have pulled the trigger as soon as the Bat was down. This is my only gripe with the movie other then the voice but I can overlook both. Especially once the movie hits BR and I can turn on subs.

I don't know if it was different in IMAX, but one of the issues was just that it was so boomy, so much louder than everybody else's voice, like he was narrating or something.

Totally agree! I didn't have a problem with the way he sounded so much how loud it sounded in the theatre. Lines like.....

Just sounded too synthetic for me. They should've done a better making his voice sound like it was blending in with the environment.

I saw it last night again. I still feel like the first 2/3 of the movie is on par with TDK. On paper, I think the set up and storyline makes sense. The execution is a bit flawed and keeps it from its full potential. I feel like this movie could have benefited greatly by being separated into two separate films or shrinking the time down to give the characters greater effect by limiting the amount of time they're off the screen and out of the story.

I also picked up on a lot more Batman Begins references. Its funny just how many lines are used from that movie, but they're just casually used that if you aren't paying attention you can easily miss them.

The sound mix at the end got kind of wonky as the score threatened to over take some of the dialogue sequences.

I understood everything Bane said the second time around. I feel like a second viewing is definitely warranted just to watch Hardy as Bane. It also cleared up a couple problems I had initially. I love his dialogue, too.

Still didn't like the reliance on flashbacks. I know that they didn't use them for every "remember that time" monologue and while the quick shots back to TDK aren't horrible, the continuous flash back of Talia in the Pit throughout the second half still peeves me.

I agree with Candyman about Alfred's fantasy. It would have been better if he had just described it without a flashback.

And honestly, I think the flashbacks undercut the actors' performances. Instead of seeing them remember and seeing them connect the pieces and having them act that out, Nolan just cheats and gives it to us like a bike with training wheels.

I feel like the Talia twist could have been improved. I guess by the time they find the empty truck you can kind of figure it out (combined with Bane discovering the Wayne board members hiding out), but some clues in the dialogue throughout the movie would have helped especially when Alfred digs enough to find out about the Pit, Ra's child, and Bane. I feel like if it was revealed sooner and give her more time to spend as Talia in the third act it would have helped her character, her relationship with Bane, and the storyline. You'd think the people in the prison would actually tell the real damn story of the child in the Pits, too.

Also, the time jump really bothers me because it hampers Bane's influence in the second half of the film greatly. He's such a brute, straight forward, no BS force in the first half and then he just kind of sidelined (like a lot of characters in this movie honestly). Once the No Man's Land comes into play things just kind of coast while we watch Bruce recover and return.

Its humorous to me that Batman kills people all the time in these movies despite him specifically saying he has a no kill policy.

For some reason nobody at the screening last night was laughing at the little dialogue quirks and jabs. That's something that has been pretty constant and consistent is the small little tidbits of comedic relief sprinkled throughout the dialogue. Still, "darker" than Batman 89, but I don't think its as macabre or depressing as people paint it to be.

After Begins I am underwhelmed with Gotham City. That's something that Burton did better was to make Gotham City its own identifiable city. Once Nolan left the Narrows, I never got a sense for Gotham City as a legit location.

Yea, there's been plenty of people on SuperHeroHype that couldn't make out that part either.

When I watched that scene the 2nd time I remember hearing the words a little better but still couldn't make out the entire sentence. So it still didn't make sense to me.

The more it's had time to sink it, the more I want to see this again. My wife and I watched the first two again yesterday, and I can honestly say this is right up there with TDK for me. Ledger's Joker still puts out the best performance, but Hardy as Bane was so powerful and intimidating. This was actually my wife's favorite of three. Great storytelling, great acting, and a great score. And honestly, I lot of the things some of you didn't like (flashbacks), I thought were very well done.

Just a phenomenal movie IMO, and my favorite trilogy ever.
