I don't know if this comes more as a retroactive TDK flaw or a TDKR flaw, but take away Rachel, Dent, and Loeb's deaths, I don't think TDKR has any other real necessary tie-ins with TDK, which is kind of strange. It makes TDK really become a true "standalone film," in a way.

But those deaths are key reasons for Batman's 8 year "retirement" and his inactivity.

I guess I included that with Dent's death. I should have been more specific.

My point was more like... if you watch Batman Begins, then have somebody tell you some pertinent information on The Dark Knight, you're not missing many beats by Nolan paying homage to TDK that much with lines, scene flashbacks, etc.

Actually, there is one that I'm thinking of that they do bring up, though they go into pretty gory detail about it:

Simply put, I don't think anyone should go to this film having not seen BB. I can't say the exact same for TDK, though I simply think that's a film that can't go unseen anyway.

The more it's had time to sink it, the more I want to see this again. My wife and I watched the first two again yesterday, and I can honestly say this is right up there with TDK for me. Ledger's Joker still puts out the best performance, but Hardy as Bane was so powerful and intimidating. This was actually my wife's favorite of three. Great storytelling, great acting, and a great score. And honestly, I lot of the things some of you didn't like (flashbacks), I thought were very well done.

Just a phenomenal movie IMO, and my favorite trilogy ever.
I have nothing against the flashbacks per say, but in some scenes they just didn't really fit well. It didn't help that we had so many flashbacks yet in Batman Begins they are there to show Bruce's parents getting murdered and his relationship with Rachel when they were younger. In TDK, I can't recall any flashbacks. It just felt like there was way too many of them imo, but that is just me.

I think that Fresh also had a good idea, why not break this film up into two parts? That would of been awesome and could left everyone with a hook

It didn't really bother all that much but since I already didn't like the movie that much at the point that it occurred, it was just another thing in a long list of things that I could complain about.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Well saw the film and while I found it enjoyable, o can't say it was amazing or lived up to the hype. I'd prob give it an 8/10. It was great filmaking all around, don't get me wrong, but I just wasnt blown away or anything.. Not like when I saw Gladiator, the ending, build up, fight scenes were awesome.. I would say Rise of planet of the Apes was a bit more enjoyable than DKR.

                      Couple questions about DKR...
