I'd bet that statue is significant in that it's face will be someone we know.

I really think everyone is on to something here with there being a long history of these people being together and always being forced back to the same point in time.

I think there's something we're missing, though, but it's the right track.

I think if a lot of this time travel stuff is true, I will be more in love with Lost. Something about the possibilities of the Losties being original Island dwellers excites me.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

I had the same thought and after further research last night I found this...
here's a statue of Anubis with a ankh in his right hand holding it the same way, etc.

That would be ridiculous... but from what we've seen of Locke's childhood it can't be true...

That's what I'm getting at with there being something we're missing.

You have Locke's story as a kid as you mentioned. But, then there's the whole ordeal of the Losties leaving and suddenly not remembering that they used to live on the Island. That doesn't seem entirely feasible. If they lived there, they should remember that they did, no?

Unless, it's similar to how I think time travel makes the most sense. You travel through time and change events because you already did that. In other words, the Losties are going through this entire ordeal because that's what they're destined to do, and as a result, everything in the past will be true. I'm not sure if I'm making much sense of this.

But, if Kate is Eve (for arguments sake here), then the Losties saw her body not because Kate has been there before, but because she eventually will. It's like changing the past and suddenly Desmond wakes up with that memory. It's now happened and no matter what, he actually met Faraday at the Island. So, what we're seeing is that the Losties saw Adam and Eve, and now we're getting the story of how Adam and Eve came to be there. It's just that it's all happening in "real-time."

Man, that was confusing for me to even write. Forget it. I'll just keep watching the damn show.

I think there's something we're missing, though, but it's the right track.

I think if a lot of this time travel stuff is true, I will be more in love with Lost. Something about the possibilities of the Losties being original Island dwellers excites me.
But Locke Can't be an original dweller. Alpert didn't have knowledge of him until Locke visited him while time traveling. And Locke was clearly born in the US. If he was a baby born on the island and then later smuggled off, Alpert would have known about this.

Also Locke's nose doesn't bleed for some reason when they jump time and neither did Faraday's right? So thats odd.

I think they have been caught in a loop though. The crash that started it all as we know it was actually one of the "tracks" that Faraday speaks of coming full circle. If this does really happen to be on a loop like groundhog day, than that is the equivalent of "I got you Babe" waking Bill Murray up every morning.

The crash is the starting point. They could have been doing this over and over and over again.

So they could have done this multiple times, and been on the island at various time periods many times, but I don't think they are indigenous. Alpert is ageless and just doesn't seem to have prior knowledge of the Losties.

One other thing. When Sawyer was talking to Smirkella on the dock and she said she was going to leave, Sawyer mentioned that its 1974 Everywhere. Is this fact or just him speculating?

Did anyone hear the name of the child that Julliette delivered? I know it was a boy. And it sounded like probably the first child born on the island. Alexandria is the 2nd. And Aaron is the third. What is the significance of any of the 3?

Well apparantly the Egyptian mythology is playing into Lost now. I googled Ankh and they start talking about Horus as well. The Ankh is supposed to symbolize eternal life. So I am pretty sure thats a Dog Headed statue.

In James Arthur's book Mushrooms and Mankind, he states: "Amon...in [picture not available for stated] relief, is holding the arm of the initiating Horus. while he pushes the Ankh into his mouth. Viewing this relif head on, Horus has his mouth closed. If you step around the pillar, to the left, you see an incredible optical effect. Horus opens his mouth wide to accept this gift. Amon is accompanied by his consort Amaunet, and Horus (ready for his travel into Amenta) is accompanied by the lion-headed goddess Sekhmet.

I don't think they ever said a name, but I'm willing to bet it's Ethan - just for the sole fact that he had such an invested interested in other babies on the Island.

There were parts of the episode I really didn't like and parts I really liked. What I'm more concerned about is how long we're gonna be stuck in 1974 with the losties playing Dharma members. I just don't think it'd be very interesting to see Jack, Kate, Sawyer etc running around doing Dharma crap.

I really didn't like the whole Sawyer Juliet thing, now we went from a love triangle between Jack, Kate and Sawyer to a love square with Juliett mixed in.

I really hope the show doesn't stick around 1974 too much, and I have a feeling once we see what's going on with ben and widmore that storyline will be much more intersting to me. Also I'm interested to see how Locke's storyline plays out with the newly crashed folks.

Ugh Lost so many questions so little answers, I hate/love you!

To be more precise, they're in 1977. 1974 was the time Sawyer and company landed on after the final flash. Three years later, 1977, is when Sawyer meets Hurley, Jack, and Kate.

Why do we have to wait two weeks for a new episode of LOST?

I came in here to ask what everyone thought about this. Ethan is my logical choice as well.

However, I get this feeling that it's someone bigger with the way they held the name. Ethan isn't extremely important to the plot. So why keep his name secret? Lost doesn't shy from revealing a minor character.

So, a part of me wants to think it's someone bigger that would make us do a serious double-take.

My crazy money is on Desmond. His past is severely unknown. Charles Widmore hates him - and I know it's deeper than him being with Penelope. I think there's a strong connection between Desmond's childhood and Charles Widmore.

I might even seriously consider that Widmore takes Desmond to the outside world when he was outcasted by The Others. Desmond's history involves a father that mysteriously vanished from his life.

I'm gonna bet that we get to see Horace build Jacob's shack and just like Sawyer changed his name on eof the other characters will change his name as well. Could it be Jack??? Or what if we see something crazy like Desmond being JAcob? Or even better what if Sawyer turns out to be JAcob. We already saw him tell Richard of things from the past what if somehow Richard places extreme importance into Sawyers character and Horace builds the shack for Sawyer. Sawyer is good at conning or manipulating people? I don't know just thinking outloud.

Lindeloff and Cuse are doing a good job with keeping people guessing about Jacob. They realize that outside of the black smoke and what the heck it really is (besides it being a security device), the background of Jacob is the most sought for piece of information from fans.

Everyone wants to know who that man is because we all know it's someone that we know.

I really enjoy reading all of your theories and I am still confused as ever. I always think I kind of have a grasp on it until my girlfriend comes in late and wants me to catch her up on the show. There is no way to explain it. You have to watch it and even then you can't really KNOW what is going on.

Also, Why can Jin speak such good English now? His English has gone from a few words earlier in the season, to fluent now. Just wondering if you guys have a theory for that.

                                Easy...

Ninety or so days on the island from the crash of 815 + time flash to 1974 + three years there, working with Dharma until 1977 when Flight 316 arrives = Jin with fluent English!
