I fall asleep in my bed, in a room that has no TV.

I've also never fallen asleep in front of the TV...I sadly always finish a boring movie, a crappy show, or I turn it off before retiring.

I can, but prefer not to. Most of the time, my iPod is on shuffle playing.

Yes I have to have it on at a low volume. It helps me fall asleep. I usually tune it to Seinfeld or something I've seen a lot.

Without the TV on, I wind up laying there thinking about work and all the things I need to get done in the short-term and long-term and/or things that I need to do around the house. Next thing I know, it's 2am, I'm clicking away on my blackberry creating notes and I haven't slept a wink.

I used to every night(using the sleep feature so the tv would turn off at a certain time), but now I simply can't do it. I have to have the tv off to fall asleep.

                On.

When I go to bed I put a timer on it though. It shuts off an hour after I get in bed. I can't sleep without some kind of noise, be it my TV or some music or something.

I do about the same. If I don't have some noise to occupy my brain, I start thinking about all kinds of stuff. I'm a worrier, so I just worry and contemplate things. If I don't have the TV on, I lay there for hours.

And music doesn't help, which I think is strange. Maybe it's because I absolutely love lyrics, so I just recite them in my head. I dunno.

My wife has to have the TV on or she can't fall asleep. Doesn't really make a difference to me.

Yes I do, but usually have the sleep timer on. I like the talking in the background; sometimes makes for trippy dreams.

Re: Falling Asleep: TV on or off?

Sometimes i'll fall asleep with the TV on mostly when it's late at night and there's nothing else to do.

However most of the time I use talk radio to fall asleep. Sometimes it gets so bad that I end up taking out my hearing aid just as i'm about to drift on and I find myself waking up with me on top of the hearing aid.

What makes me fall asleep is a television show lost in its own time like some 1940's move on TCM, or perhap some made for tv 80's low budget movie that has such a ridiculous 80's feel (you know, chicks with puffy hair, people with foggy glasses, etc etc etc). I also like the twilight zone to fall asleep to.

I fall asleep a lot with it on but usually wake up after 30 minutes or an hour or whatever and turn it off and go back to bed. Other times I just turn it off when I know I really need to get to sleep.
