re: James Cameron's "Avatar"
If Avatar wants to match Titanic's second week and near the one billion mark, it needs to do better than its Wednesday performance against Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.
On Wednesday, Alvin beat out Sam Worthington making $18.8 MM over $16.5 MM.
Alvin and the Chipmunks beat out Avatar.HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

re: James Cameron's "Avatar"
Wow what a great movie....everything about it was great and did you guys catch up on all the symbolim and allusions, there were some obvious ones, some not so obvious, and I am happy there weren't any really big gaping plot holes like in Terminator...he couldn't put a gun in his mouth..or down there...while the Terminator takes in his whole metal insides with no problem :PComment

Avatar was a great movie, and it had a very deep message in the story. A lot of people will love this film. Definitely for an adult and not a child. But overall a great film.Comment

It's not even like it's massively dropping off yet either, as Alvin dropped off almost 60% from Wednesday. The people that wanted to see it have done so. Avatar is still rolling with $400 million made worldwide so far, and will have longer legs due to it being a showcase 3D movie for theaters.Last edited by bkfount; 12-26-2009, 01:32 AM.Comment

re: James Cameron's "Avatar"
Took parents to see it in theater for xmas in 3d, the last movie they saw in the theater was Speed. I wanted them to experience the 3d because the theater doesn't really offer them anything better than their blu-ray player and sound system at home.
I loved the 3d and the CGI, thought it was amazing. The movie itself was only average, and the first 20 minutes I didn't really pay attention to it as I was just enthralled by the 3d. I would definitely recommend that people watch it though, just for the beautiful CGI.My football alliances: E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles AND Hokie Hokie Hokie HiComment

re: James Cameron's "Avatar"
I saw this yesterday afternoon in 3D with my brother. After getting used to the 3D, this totally blew me away. The CGI felt so real and near perfect.
Excellent movie start to finish. I had a blast. I'd really like to see this in a IMAX.GT: Herkyalert

re: James Cameron's "Avatar"
anyone with prescription glasses think the 3d effect wasn't as good? someone told me that they give you these 3d glasses and they don't have the same effect if you wear prescription ones. and no, i don't wear contacts so that's not an option.Comment

I have prescription glasses and saw it on IMAX 3D. Looked perfectly fine to me.Comment

re: James Cameron's "Avatar"
I don't see how it would have a different effect. The glasses they give you should easily fit over your glasses.Comment
