 Re: Kid Cudi

A member of the emerging avant garde pop-hop movement. Terrible rapper in regards to bar-for-bar lyricism, but great song maker. Quality car riding music. The beats are dope.

A rich man's version of Max B without the tough talk and garbage singing.

Ironically, I was listening to his new song "Daps and Pounds" when I saw this thread.

 Re: Kid Cudi

Never peeped anything other than Day n Night. I thought it was straight. Hip hop is wack these days, I can't say that I'm into it the way that I was growing up. What the deal with this clown Asher Roth that I see everywhere? Son is trash.Comment

 Re: Kid Cudi

Not impressed by Cudi. I liked Day And Night, but I thought the other tracks on that album were weak.

Someone mentioned Asher Roth. He's a clown, but I can't hate on someone having a good time with music and actually saying something that makes sense. Does it have value? No. But, it's not some nonsense about dance steps or what clothes he wears.

He's telling a story which I think is cool."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob NeyerComment

 Re: Kid Cudi

Do you mean his mixtape? Because he hasn't actually put out an album yet.
I guess the problem I have with Asher Roth is that his "College boy" image seems so contrived and artificial, even more so than most rappers.Someone mentioned Asher Roth. Re: Kid Cudi

Kid Cudi...well..I'm not sold on him. I've listened to 2 of his tapes (including the latest one) and he definitely has good songs. I think he only shines when the production is good (Kanye West, Kickdrums, etc). I loved Day N Night, not the Crookers remix though. But to me he always sounds like he raps lazy. It's like he's half mumbling. He's not a great lyricist. He's not a great singer. He has a lot of suspect beats (re: A Kid named Cudi mixtape).

The only guy that'll blow up out of this class is Drake. Not Asher Roth, not Cudi, not Wale. Drake's already getting a lot of (too much) love.
