    Fair enough.

I won't ever try to defend Roth's skills... I really don't know that much about evaluating actual talent, so I'll leave that to the guys that actually know.

I just think his lyrics are a breath of fresh air. And if you listen to Asleep in the Bread Aisle, it's not all frat boy college stuff. Don't get me wrong, that's certainly his niche (and he willingly admits it in his song "Cannon"), but he's got some other stuff on there.

I just like that he's having fun with it. I like his "vibe." And, yes, I'm a white college boy from Pennsylvania... Not a frat boy, but I like to party... so he's clearly aiming at me.

That's basically my point about Asher.

He's obviously just having fun rapping about the things he knows. It's nice to see an artist that doesn't have to rap about the typical stuff.

That being said, I don't think he can rap very well. I liked his flow in "Lark In My Go Kart" but I also feel like it took him days upon days to even write that stuff.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer
