Re: Kid Cudi
I think a lot of people hate on Cudi because of his hipster image, or that he wears tight jeans or whatever. Personally, I don't like mind it. I wear tight jeans, lol.Herbs,
I agree with you about Cud's
His **** is different, and right now dudes are hating on it... just liek cats hated on 808 HB
Everyone says hip hops not the same as it used to be, and are loking for something different but when it comes they say its "garbage".
Cud's has TALENT, the range on that dudes voice and his musical concepts are far above anything Asher Roth, and that other dude Charles Hamilton (whose little sonic the hedgehog schtick is annoying) could dream about.
Asher has talent in that he can put together rhyming words in a funny comical kind of way..but what drunk emcee cant do that?...
Hes getting love cause hes a goofy looking white kid, with a funny voice rapping about smokin trees, and other "stuff"...im not hating on him get your money... by all means, do you.
But to compare THAT to the TALENT Cud's has is just laughable.
Cudi's lyrics are a lot more introspective and I think that also turns a lot of people off too. I mean listen to Day N' Night. The whole song is rapping about how depressed he is. When was the last time you heard a rapper talk about how he depressed he was?
His lyrics aren't about hustling or whatever, but I'm not really interested in listening to that kind of **** anyway.
I think the underground crowd is turned off by him because his songs sound too polished or whatever. I personally don't think that just because it can be termed as "pop" music that automatically means that it isn't authentic or worth listening to. Thriller is obviously a pop album, but who is going to say that that is a bad album? Now, I'm not comparing Cudi to MJ, but I'm just saying that it is possible for pop music to have artistic merit.
I know someone referred to Cudi as a ringtone MC, but I feel like that is a little off base. Cudi's music has substance.Comment

Not projects, but down the way from where you from. 116th. You'll hear about me soon. One.I think a lot of people hate on Cudi because of his hipster image, or that he wears tight jeans or whatever. Re: Kid Cudi
People "hate" on him because his lyrics are awful. The Cool Kids came out with that image a couple years ago but people don't talk **** about them because they have skill.
Joe Budden and Murs, among others.Cudi's lyrics are a lot more introspective and I think that also turns a lot of people off too. I mean listen to Day N' Night. The whole song is rapping about how depressed he is. When was the last time you heard a rapper talk about how he depressed he was?
You must have heard some secret unreleased songs by him or something cause there is nothing to his songs.I think the underground crowd is turned off by him because his songs sound too polished or whatever. Re: Kid Cudi
Differences of opinion I guess. I enjoy listening to his music. I think people should give him a chance. If you don't, then that's cool with me, too.Comment

Re: Kid Cudi
Yea, I gave him a chance. I mean, I'll listen to whatever else he puts out. I never completely block out an artist like him. He comes from the same style that I enjoy. I just don't enjoy him."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Kid Cudi
You went and said Cudi has no substance, but stick up for Asher?
I dont get it.
Anyways, Asher Roth gets some of the tightest beats I've ever heard. His album is full of hot beats, it's just a shame he doesn't say anything on them.Comment

I didn't say every single song of his was great or that he was a great rapper, I said a few songs on his album are good.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

Damn, I think I'd be rich if I put down five cents for everytime someone completely misunderstood something jmood said.
Dude, you explain yourself so much here. And I really don't get why you always have to. What you say makes sense to me."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied.
