Re: District 9
Either way, as Candyman noted it is hard to leave impressions but I will say this movie is absolutely amazing. I left this movie with a blockbuster of the summer feeling. For me it beats out everything I have seen this year and for a while. Star Trek comes closes but I'll give this the edge.
Based on the previews it wasn't what I was excepting as far as the story. I'll say this though, but what I got was better than I was expecting.
If you're interested in action, sci-fi, great story, see this! It is unlikely you'll walk away disappointed.Comment

Re: District 9
It was really good and had some of the best special effects I've ever seen.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: District 9
The gore factor is pretty high, lots of shooting and some of the weapons are pretty crazy.
Had stayed away from most of the reviews so I went into it really only seeing the previews so I wasn't really sure what to expect. It was different from what I thought it would be but I still really enjoyed it. Hard to really say anything about it without spoiling something. I thought the lead guy did a really good job, he made the movie for me.Comment

Re: District 9
Ha. It's much worse than Watchmen/300 type gore.
Spoilermultiple bodies explode on contact, heads are blown off, arms are ripped off... etc. etc.
Having said that. I loved every minute of it!http://flotn.blogspot.com

Re: District 9
Just saw this. This was one of my most anticipated movies this year and I enjoyed it. Star Trek is still my favorite, but this movie was very unique and different from your typical "aliens arrive one Earth" story.
The directing and acting (especially from the lead character) was top notch. Man, I really wish the Halo movie wouldn't have fallen through, I think Neil here would have made a fantastic Halo movie.
And given the small budget (30 million dollars) the special effects were just fantastic!!Comment

Re: District 9
I don't know how he got those special effects with that budget. If he and JJ Abrams did a movie together I think our minds would explode from the sheer amazingness of the special effects.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. I still can't believe this movie was the lead actors first ever (and so far) only movie he's ever done. He seemed like a natural.http://flotn.blogspot.com

Re: District 9
I'm thinking that they got all those effects in due to the no name cast and the fact that South Africa probably doesn't cost a ton to shoot on location.
