Re: District 9
I liked it better. It's more original than Public Enemies. No Johnny Depp-like star power, but you will see things you've probably not seen before in a movie and it will actually challenge your mind, unlike PE which was just basically a mindless summer flick. Has more action than Public Enemies as well with some really cool weapons.Comment

Re: District 9
I liked it walking out, as it sank in over night, I loved it. Really made you think.
In other news, Zombieland is now a must see after the trailer before it.Comment

Re: District 9
Saw last night, thought it was entertaining. Obvious/interesting parable to apartheid. Could make the argument that the humans were a little too one dimensional; "Christopher" and his son were the most interesting characters in the movie by far. Would love to see a sequel although I know it won't happen - and probably shouldn't. Very nice special effects also. Star Trek still remains the best movie I've seen this summer, but this was good (although not necessarily a "summer" movie)HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

Re: District 9
Maybe that's what I meant to say. I was thinking of what kind of message is this movie trying to send about us as people? I didn't really make the apartheid connection that spankdatazz mentioned even though the location of the movie was South Africa. I guess I was looking for something deeper? I don't know.
I've seen quite a few movies this summer. Still loved "Star Trek" the most but this was a close 2nd.
After you posted that, I was waiting for something to happen when that preview came one. Yeah, that was pretty damn funny.Last edited by SlimKibbles; 08-17-2009, 08:08 PM.MLB: Cincinnati Reds

Re: District 9
My wife and I saw this on Friday. We both enjoyed it a lot. I was amazed at how well the lead did, especially considering he's never been in a film before.
My only gripe at all was the 8 trailers they showed before the film. I love trailers but 8 is a bit much. I can't even remember what most of them were now. Though, Zombieland did look like fun and Legion looked like a decent rental.Hey, you know Bob from maintenance?Comment

Re: District 9
I just got back from seeing it and it was great. I don't want to sound redundant, but the special effects and the lead actor were amazing. A lot of undertones throughout the film, but I felt they did a good job not throwing **** right in your face.
