I watched Ghost of Girlfriends past with Matthew McConaughey last night. Very enjoyable movie IMO. I was, surprisingly emotionally affected somewhat by the end too, LOL.

Excellent movie! I have one of the I think, 2 or 3 collectors edition sets of that movie. It's pretty engrossing for a film that's so long. It also cemented Clark Gable's status as a legend.

With regret I can say I've never watched Gone With The Wind. But I will one day.

Yes, no doubt it's an amazing film. I'm actually looking for a collection right now. I want to see some of the featurettes and other extras. Gable, like you said, was just phenomenal and it looks really great in HD. Timeless movie. I'd seen it before as a youngster but I think I was too young to really appreciate it. It truly deserves it's status as one of the greatest movies ever made.

I think there's a Blu-Ray double disc set out right now.

I missed it. I was multitasking so I wasn't as "on the ball".

Sherlock Holmes. About what I expected. Very good action with a not so great detective story. I am liking Robert Downey more as an actor. And the Holmes and Watson relationship was good. Now I'm thinking its sort of like an old fashioned Lethal Weapon movie. I'm sure there will be a sequel.

Shutter Island, decent movie but way too long and drawn out.

Watched several movies over the past 2 days.

                              1) The Tournament: Pretty good action flick, but the story is an almost exact copy of The Condemned. The action is much better and on par with Death Race.

                              2) Funny People: Solid 8 out of 10. I like Adam Sandler movies where he is playing a somewhat serious role. Ran a little long (especially at the end) but kept me entertained.

                              3) Karate Kid part 1 on blu ray. A 9.5 out of 10. My favorite movie of all time, but PQ and AQ are not much of an upgrade over the DVD.

I watched an interesting box office bust from '47 with John Wayne called Tycoon. The cast is good, the story is interesting, the directing is competent but there's just something amiss with the movie. It kinda sorta felt like they were going through the motions. Oh well it was a good time waster.

This was RKO's most expensive film to date and they lost a boatload of money over it.

I'd rate it a 2.5 out of 5. There are quite a number of good left elbow scenes and Wayne is quite naturalistic in it.
