Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. Was actually a pretty good movie. Nothing like the 1st one but still not bad. I remember hearing when they were going to make a second one I thought it would be terrible. Basic Instinct 2 bad but it wasn't.GT: Herkyalert

The Deer Hunter. It's like 2 movies in one. Such a quick and sad transition for this tight knitted group. I had forgotten the very end and think they could have gone another way, but I can see why they did it considering the release date and it being just after the Vietnam War.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Just got done with watching The Adjustment Bureau
I have to admit, I've had the movie but was pretty meh on watching it. Finally got around to seeing it tonight since there was nothing on television to watch. I must say, the movie was pretty good. The concept was very interesting and definitely though provoking.
Good to see Damon in a role that's not The Bourne series or him kicking ***. It was definitely a good role for him. And what can i say about Emily Blunt, shes freaking HOT and played her role well as well.

Bridesmaids - 2.5/10
Nothing much to say about this one. I laughed maybe a handful of times and that was at simple bathroom humor. Kristen Wiig should never be allowed to star in a feature film again.Comment

Really? I loved it. I thought it was consistently funny all the way through. The critics love it as well. I've found that you and I don't agree on much. HahaKansas City Royals | FC Barcelona | New Orleans Pelicans

Cedar Rapids.
Man, this was a really good movie. John C. Reilly is so good and I thought Ed Helms was strong as the lead character. Anne Heche looks a lot different from 5-10 years ago, but I enjoyed her in the movie and Isiah Whitlock, Jr. was a highlight.Currently Playing:

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Easy A - I love Emma Stone and enjoyed her in this. At times the narrative monologues sprinkled with pysch. major catch-phrases was almost too much (Juno handled this better IMO), because not every high school student has the brain capacity to speak this way, but Emma made it believable and (more importantly) likeable. I liked the story and I thought the adults were cast very well (loved the parents). The rest of the cast was distracting because I know this is a high-school, but all the girls look like porno models in their late 20s. I guess you could chalk it up to "California school system?" Good movie, but nothing too spectacular other than Emma Stone in the black bodice and ray-bans. Yow-ZA!
Ichi - So, this is a "spiritual" successor to the blind swordsman movies/show, except the blind swordsman is actually a woman. A badass, frozen hearted woman. The story is the basic western/samurai plot - wondering swordsman comes to town and helps fight for the underdog good guys, though there are some basic twists to the story. I've noticed that sometimes these types of movies can be over-run with characters, but Ichi kept them at a reasonable number and allowed the interactions and relationships to develop through the course of the film. Toma was great, as was Ichi. Both were great in their roles. Toma is, more than not, the comic relief and does a good job at it, even if it feels like you're belittling his character by laughing at him. Ichi is great, even though she really doesn't "do" much, but I found myself falling for her by the end of the film.
As for the action, it is actually pretty minimal from what I was expecting. There aren't really any major or drawn out action sequences. The swordplay is as swift and deciding as Ichi's blade and the jaw-dropping is purely from Ichi's talent backhanded swordsmanship and her ability to chop down her opponents in seconds.
All in all, this is a good samurai film that will probably grow to be a "great" film for me the more I think about it and with each time I watch it.
