Sucker Punch - More like SUCK punch. Loved the ladies in it for sure but just didn't enjoy the execution/story that much. I understood what Snyder wanted to do but I just didn't like it.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Hot Tub Time Machine.
Not at all what I expected. Maybe my memory of the trailers is off, but I was sure that when I first saw mention of this film, it would be a childish, over-the-top comedy where the laughs would come in bunches from people that enjoy that sort of thing (see: Grown Ups which I thought was insanely boring and dumb. I know there are people that liked it, but I can't get into those types of comedies).
Hot Tub Time Machine isn't one of those comedies. It actually felt more like a dramedy. Once you get past the idea that a hot tub takes these guys back in time, the story is handled well.
I wouldn't say it was one of the best comedies ever, but it's better than average, even if only slightly. To be honest, I hardly laughed. I can remember chuckling in some parts, but I never felt as if the film was forcing comedy down my throat. Lots of the situations felt more real, more dramatic than anything.
The film left me impressed considering what I expected. Glad I gave it a shot."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
X-MEN first class
Saw it last week Saturday and I must admit it was pretty good. I was already committed to seeing it with a fellow xmen fan but when I saw the reader reviews on many sites I wanted to back out and warn her. Fortunately the tickets were already purchased and after seeing the film I thought it was very well done. Not sure what all the complaints were about.
There were a couple of issues here and there but it was not a strict following of the comic and was very satisfactory despite it. Really liked the using of Sebastian Shaw in this one. Overall it looked great. It could have been better but it was entertaining.Comment

Watched Paul today and it was far better then I expected. Based off of the previews I had no desire to see it. But with the good reviews I figured I'd watch it. Funny throughout with some surprise cameos.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Finally got around to watching The Social Network. Very well done. I read others comment on Timberlake's role and although I'm not a fan of his music, he did pull off the role well. Didn't realize his character's connection to the whole Facebook thing, which I have avoided like the plague as well.
The irony of something like Facebook being created by a guy like Zuckerberg is enormous, but then again, is it? I'm so confused. I must go Twit that.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I went and saw Conan O'Brien Can't Stop tonight at a local indie theater. Awesome documentary overall, and especially good if you're a Conan fan. It was an hour and a half long, but I could have sat there for three. Really enjoyed it.Kansas City Royals | FC Barcelona | New Orleans Pelicans

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Watched Let Me In last night. I take back what I said, and agree with some of you guys on here. It was basically on par with Let The Right One In. Chloe Moretz is one hell of a little actress, and Codi McPhee did an excellent job as well. Both this and LTROI have a rather uncomfortable air about them that I enjoyed.
Plus, they both contain probably one of my top 5 favorite scenes of all time:

BTTF will always get me stopping to watch. Always will be my favorite trilogy of films. Part one is the best one and never fails to catch me in.

Saw Thomas Crowne. Much better than reviews had me thinking it would be.
Waiting for forever and Rite, neither that good. Forget me not was pretty interesting.
Bad teacher last weekend. Pretty funny, nothing special.
Midnight in Paris was an interesting movie. Not usually my type of movie, but I liked it.
