If I were to try and sell it, I'd say it's a throwback mob/revenge film where Gosling's merciful silence is a standing presence for the entirety of the plot. His emotions are wreaked in an effortless "cool," and can simply be told by the chillingly raw substance of the world around him.
The action in the film is light, but bold. The soundtrack is hauntingly light given the sadistic tones, and each relationship with Gosling has its own style despite his monotonous nuances.

I didn't say it was hard to follow; I said you have to pay attention.
And unfortunately, I didn't really like the film. I liked it. The Netflix 5 star rating isn't very robust.
You go from liked it to didn't like it. Doesn't give you much space to work with.
Not all 3's are created equal. Snatch is still a Tarantino copy cat even if it's entertaining.

As far as these companies and ratings. Pssshaw.... I don't bother or pay attention, nor do I rate. Like you implied, it all comes down to taste.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
It's been a couple years since I've seen a Guy Ritchie movie so I'm sure I would view them differently now. From what I can recall, Ritchie's films felt more flashy and glossy to me compared to Tarantino's subdued and film-grainy style. Of course, Inglorious Basterds was full of flash.
