Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Rudy
I watched this in a bit of a strange way. I've been substitute teaching for the same English teacher the past few days, and today and yesterday he had me put on this film. We only got through about 80 minutes of it in the past two days, but I had to watch the same first 40 minutes five times in a row, then the next 40 minutes five times in a row. Thankfully, it was good enough that I didn't really get tired of watching it... but I just wanted to know what happened next!
I finished the rest online tonight. Understanding that the story is probably well fabricated for the sake of the film, I'm sure the statistics at least hold true regarding his college career and upbringing, as well as the little football he played.
Good film! Nice to see Astin, Favreau, Beatty, and even a few glimpses of Vaughn in their younger bodies (Beatty not so young haha). It seemed to have fared well when it first released, and the film aged pretty well too. One of the better inspiring true football stories adapted into film that I've seen.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Very good movie though I haven't seen it in YEARS. Maybe I should rectify that especially since ND is a powerhouse againSeriously though there are a couple fabrications one of which we all know of in that Rudy is actually a bit of a jerk but the other is that they made Devine out to be much worse than he really was though he agreed to be portrayed as the "heavy" but one scene was totally fabricated.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
The Hobbit. Will probably watch it again at some point later, but not a big LOTRO fan, was more interested in watching it in HFR 3D (48FPS) and with Dolby ATMOS. Fell asleep frequently over the course of the 3 hour midnight showing.
First 15 and last 40 minutes were pretty good though!Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
The class I subbed before was half open forum discussion on overcoming adversities in life, half writing about it, blah blah blah. Then the next three classes they watched the movie, and had ten new questions on a sheet each day to answer based on what time frame we were looking at in the film (so for instance, on the first day, the ten questions were focused on the first forty minutes of the film). I think they are supposed to do an essay assignment this weekend comparing what they wrote versus what was in the film, yada yada.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

I liked the Atmos, absolutely hated the HFR. It was one of the worst movies visually I've seen in a really long time. The HFR made all of the CGI look really cheap and made the makeup look awful. I enjoyed the movie alright though. There was absolutely no need for it to be just south of 3 hours.Kansas City Royals | FC Barcelona | New Orleans Pelicans

Did you see it at the AMC Barrywoods? Because I think we were in the same theater.

HFR was a neat spectacle, not sure if it will ever be more than that.Comment

Also watched The Hobbit. Regular 35mm however.
I fell asleep a couple times. That's what I get for a 1 am showing. But I saw most of it and I liked what I saw.
It does seem they milked it a bit. There were scenes that went longer than normal. It's not so much that I think they were boring long, but that they really made them draw out almost as if you were watching these reactions in real life. It didn't have that movie get to the point technique.
Had two very favorite scenes and enjoyed the film though I'm biased because the book was my favorite in high school.

Wife and I watched 50/50 last night. What a great movie. Definitely got teary-eyed near the end during the hospital scene.Comment

Saw it with the family. Amazed how many things I was not historically aware of, at least when it came down to the numbers. Great film. DDL and Spielberg went all out on this one. Unfortunately, I am not so compelled to re-watch it any time soon in the next ten years.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
