Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Damn, my last reviews were a victim of the hack this weekend (see Steve's Forum 'Posts Missing' thread...details forthcoming).
Well, let me sum up those reviews.
Jarhead
Pretty good, I guess. Don't care if I never see it again.
World War Z
Pretty decent for a zombie movie...but I still think zombie movies are dumb.GO 'HAWKS!

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
The Addams Family - This is a weird plot, but one I can totally see as being conjured up by a late 50s sitcom especially with the ridiculous twist at the end that is only discovered by a shot a lightning to the head. The cast is good, but so well that you don't really even see them as performances. Christina Ricci steals the show, though. And the "play" the kids perform is amazing.

Knew it was a comic, but never really read any of them. For some reason the TV show gets eclipsed by The Munsters for me.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Munsters = corny, cheesy, campy, grade school appeal humor
Addams Family = offbeat, out-there, wacky, left field humor
But then again, I think they had this argument on "Cheers" once!
Actually disliked the AF movies very much.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Again, not a movie, but I got around to seeing Season 1 of Homeland.
Awesome, across the board. Plot, acting, writing, you name it. I'd put it up there with any individual season of any TV series I've ever seen, Breaking Bad included. I thought certain elements of the plot were revealed too quickly (I thought the CIA agent/Brody cat-and-mouse game would get extended a bit more, but it wasn't).
Season 2 got a 96 rating on Metacritic though, so obviously the writers know what they're doing.I write things on the Internet.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Argo came to HBO recently and I finally watched it. What a beautifully done film. Easy to see how it took home awards. Loved the use of the old production company logos when the movie begins. Just a well crafted and acted out film.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I don't know if this is going to make sense...
Pacific Rim - The movie was exactly what I expected, but I expected more from it.
I knew that it was going to be a visually stunning movie with an okay plot and some corny acting.
And that's exactly what it was. I just really, really wanted to like it more.
Ill ask for the BR for Christmas, but I'm glad I didn't blind-buy it today.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Pacific Rim
I thought there'd be more robots and more fighting. Still pretty decent. 7.5/10 movie and 11/10 blu-ray. There were a few plotholes I thought of during the movie but forgot about them by the end.
Maniac (new one)
I try to avoid remakes but this one was decent. First person view for much of it,that was intresting. Made a particular scene in a car park quite the thing.Comment
