Agreed. I went into it with tempered expectations, but it had some truly funny moments. A pleasant surprise.

I enjoyed it. Jason Statham played a badass like he does in most of his roles, just this time he had to worry about his daughter as well.

        Interview With a Hitman

The beginning is cut nicely, even if it looses steam when bogged down with a love story in the middle. I liked the character of "Victor" as well. It reminded me a lot of Layer Cake.

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2

Fun family movie. Smart decisions with the food, evolving the relationship there beyond just giant food raining down. Visually appealing with fantastic use of color. The movie's visual palate is like candy to the audience. Nice jokes and nothing too cheesy. Very enjoyable to watch for an adult with an open mind. This movie may keep your children from eating their food for a few hours though. For a children's/family film it gets the job done.

Badass. Danny Trejo. I thought there might have been more action. Due to the way he is normally shot in the movies you don't get the feeling Trejo is that short but man that dude is very short and he was shot that way in this movie. Awful movie I would avoid it.

Yeah a couple years ago. I liked that one too.

                Percy Jackson Sea of Monsters

Man this movie went through all the motions. Nothing, and I mean nothing deviating from the formula of a fantasy teen action movie; from the self doubting main star to the one note evil teen antagonist who gets what he deserves at the end.

Conceptually I love the idea. I like the concept of modernizing greek god lore. I like the way they bend the stories to fit their characters but at the same time they took some real liberties with it. I can look past it but maybe some greek god die hard fans wouldn't.

I didnt have an issue with much of the writing and performances but one: the damn main antagonist Luke, son of Hermes. They did nothing for the guy to make the audience feel for him or really hate him. The guy is written as a half blood who hates what his father Hermes did to him. What that is however is never really explained. We just know that now Luke in his anger wants to unleash Cronus, father of the head honcho greek gods, to essentially destroy Olympus and his father. With all the exposition this film provides, they fail to tell us Luke's motivation in any detail. I lied, there is a major scene where Hermes provides our heros with tools to stop Luke as well as his location, then Hermes tells our protagonists to tell Luke "we parents make mistakes". Well TELL US WHAT MISTAKES YOU MADE! Then Luke gets the formula write off before he ever develops a true second dimension to his character. The actor who played Luke didn't help. The guy had one note the whole movie; disinterested.

But this movie isn't trying to break ground or be too complex so maybe I was looking for something they just didn't need to give. All things considered its a movie you can avoid watching unless your pre-teen children are just begging you to watch with them. Average, forgettable teen action film.

                Pass.

Oh and the special effects were decent. I liked the design for Chronus. But the scene where they fight the mechanical bull was my favorite.

I'd love it if Netflix put Major League on. The only time I see either on TV is when someone like Comedy Central airs it.

MLB Network has been showing it a lot over the offseason.

12 Years A Slave - Yeah. **** this movie, in the best way possible. Jesus that was painful to watch. Incredible performances all around. Just a mesmerizing movie...but damn hard to watch at some points.

Not so much a movie, but I binged on "Bleak House". Based off the Dickens book, it's a BBC miniseries/production. Amazing acting, especially from the main female lead. I always like finding a solid period piece.

I like horror/slasher movies and someone told me to watch Cabin in the Woods. Pretty freakin crazy movie. I knew something was different about it from what I had heard, but damn, it was pretty insane. In a good way though.
