Non-Stop. Pretty good movie and had me guessing until the end. Anything with Liam Neeson is gonna be good.

Guilt Trip. Not too bad, was short and pretty funny throughout.

          Still a good movie.
Once Trapper, Frank and Henry left the show, I thought it took a huge nose dive.

The movie is a different ride altogether. If you've never seen it.... see it. It was well ahead of its time, and still holds up imo.

You weren't a fan of Potter, BJ or Charles in the TV show? Once Alan Alda started producing/directing, the show took a turn for the serious. I agree with you on the movie.

I watched "300: Rise of an Empire" couple of days and this is the best movie that I see this year. Well done "Noam Murro" (Y)

                Planes (2013)

I'm a huge fan of the original Cars and I know John Lassater (sp) is big on the whole "vehicles that are people" thing but man this movie shows no imagination at all. It's basically a retread of elements from both Cars movies, the characters are basically stock characters in that they're just about stand ins for the Cars characters and Dane Cook is well, Dane Cook.

I may or may not actually do a write up but this movie was so blah it's not worth it. I will do a write up soon of a modern movie next week. There'll be a western on Wednesday or Thursday.

Watched Adult World with John Cusack and Emma Roberts the other night with the GF. I probably wouldn't be into a movie like this but it was shot in Syracuse so I was curious. I thought it was pretty bad tbh, the characters were so unlikeable.

It's definitely a hipster movie, I couldn't recommend it to anyone outside syracuse though. The last scene was shot right down the street from where I lived so that was neat.

Escape Plan. Solid action movie, really liked the original premise. The ending was predictable but was a fun ride. Stallone and Schwarzenegger did a very decent job in this one.

Machete Kills. Meh. I kept waiting for it to get interesting--never did.

                      Finally watched Coraline

With the inevitable comparison to Nightmare Before Christmas, I really liked it. Nightmare is one of my favorite movies, mainly due to its music and atmosphere, but it never had me feel "uneasy". Sure it's set in Halloween but it was never scary, even with some of the monsters in Halloween Town and Ooggie Boogie. Coraline on the other hand had an awesome atmosphere, and some genuinely creepy moments.

ParaNorman seems like the same type of movie, and my next one to watch.

Just saw Non-Stop with our son and we both loved it.

Great action thriller movie, you just need to let you imagination go a few times and and don't worry about reason or logic.

                          Liam Neeson is very good.

                            Ramrod (1947)

If you like noir and you like westerns than this movie is right up your alley. This movie was directed by Andre De Toth and starred Joel McCrea and Veronica Lake. Basically it's a revenge story within the trappings of a western with noir elements. You have Lake being the wronged woman who wants to defend herself against the boss of the valley whom her father is in league with. In fact, the father has wanted her to marry him for years. She sets out on her own and hires a reformed drunk in McCrea who could've easily been a violent type of character but whom is actually a quiet man who just wants to live a quiet peaceful life.

There's a lot of complexity to the movie and it's interesting how the viewer is thrown into the film as it seemingly starts off in the middle of events. It takes a good 15 minutes before you really catch on to what's happening and once you do you're rewarded with a story that has shades of grey. I've written up more about the noir elements and other actors in this film on my blog but needless to say it's a near masterpiece. The movie is available on DVD/Blu Ray so if you're intrigued you should check it out.

                              Veronica Mars

If anybody ends up seeing this and hasn't seen the show (You can probably get away with that, although it seems impossible to really appreciate it on the same level.), I'd be really curious to hear your thoughts. But as a fan of the show I loved it. Just the right amount of fan service while also being really compelling. It was really nice seeing Kristen Bell back in the character that she may have been born to play, because man, she really owns Veronica Mars. And all the supporting players, too. It was like nobody really had any trouble getting back into that old character, which also speaks to the script that Rob Thomas wrote.

Marathon the three seasons of the show then go see the movie. It's worth your time. I gave the Kickstarter 50 bucks and I don't regret that at all right now. Completely satisfied.

Those original 3 brought more of the mad cap, comedic element somewhat emulating the movie.... you couldn't get that with the replacements.
