Wow, we enjoyed the heck out of it. I thought the pacing was great and the humor was right on the mark-never saw the other Lego movies.

Saw John Wick 2. Loved the first one for its great world building and gun play. The sequel continues that and does the gun action even better. Incredible movies.

I have to see the first one-I didn't realize it and the sequel were so well received.

If you have a tv subscription, you can watch the first one on the USA Network app.

Watched Saving Mr. Banks this afternoon. Fantastic movie. Tom Hanks is my all-time favorite actor so I'm not surprised it was good.

              Just saw The Prestige.

Could be the best movie I've ever seen. Amazing acting, screenplay, and arguably Christopher Nolan's greatest work. Highly recommend it.

Not my favorite of his (probably should be, though I have biases), but I still think it's his best work. Flawless execution.

                I'll back this recommendation.

Memento will always be my favorite of his. His best hovers somewhere around Memento, The Prestige, and Inception for me.

We saw this Saturday night and loved it, but we haven't seen The Lego Movie so we can't make an outright comparison. Still, it was hilarious. Easily the best rendition of Batman since The Dark Knight. They stayed true to the characters and Batman's history. I loved all the call-backs and tongue-in-cheek jokes.

The Phantom Menace - I probably hadn't seen this movie since it was released on home video initially. My problems with this are mostly attributable to its execution and its over-reliance on CGI over practical effects (which continues into Episode II). I liked the casting and the basis of the characters this movie laid out. Yes, some of the dialogue is cheesy and Jar Jar is a bumbling mess, but I wouldn't call this an outright terrible film. It is fun and paces itself adequately.

Attack of the Clones - Now this. This is a terrible film. At its best times it feels like a glued-together Shakespearean dialogue love story stuck between a ridiculously conflated political 'thriller.' There's all these supposed twists and discoveries, but nothing comes to fruition. There's so much in the shadows or 'behind the shroud of the Dark Side' that what little you actually see seems pointless.

Whatever good basis Episode I provided for its characters Episode II does away in the very beginning. I hate advancing 10 years. You leave off with a young kid who is hopeful, smart, and likable, but you get ****ing Hayden Christensen, his chester-molester creeper gaze, arrogant whiny diatribes, and his woefully Shakespearean lines on sand. Of the 20 "building relationship" scenes with Anakin and Padme only one feels close to any type of organic, relationship building. They should have went straight to Anakin wanting to rescue his mother from the very beginning. That was good. Everything around it was bad.

Meanwhile Jesus Kenobi is out on some bumbling secret spy mission that is suppose to be the literal progression of a two hour movie. The plot advances at such a slow pace you have to remind yourself why Kenobi is doing this and perhaps it would have been helpful if he reminded himself, too. The man has no stealth or sense of creep. Strolling through the worst defended secret bases with robes billowing and that Jesus smirk of his.

Kenobi is really a small sample of how lame the Jedi are in this movie as a whole. I really dislike the Jedi as super powered super heroes that this movie showcases visually. On the other hand they are oblivious to everything including their own padawan's thoughts and feelings. Anakin bitches about Kenobi any chance he gets, disrespects every authority figure he's standing beside, and has the arrogance of a silver spoon, but yet his "true feelings" are somehow masked from these great Jedi around. The closest Kenobi gets to any type of clarity is admitting he's failed teaching him. No. ****ing. ****.

Natalie Portman looks beautiful throughout this movie so I'll give her sudden jumps to decisions a pass. Her dialogue is just as lame as Anakin's. I would say to watch their scenes muted, but their chemistry and body language is so awkward and creepy it actually makes no sense why these two want to be together apart from Anakin's 10 years of pining. Her best scene is telling Anakin to stop looking at me like I'm ****ing centerfold in the Sears catalog you ****ing creep.

And oh look. Yet another woefully underdeveloped Sith Vice President. At least he gets to fight another day and possibly some character development that is more than two sentences.

                  Ugh.

Right on man. The Phantom Menace has some redeeming qualities. The amazing light saber battle with Darth Maul is one of the greatest Star War's moments spanning all the films made to date, the pod racing was exhilarating and shows just how powerful the force is with a 9 year old Anakin and how Luke was on that same path on Tatooine as well. The movie did move along and had a good pace and set pieces (Gungan city was bad *** too). Overall for me it is 2.5 star film.

Attack Of The Clones is an utter POS of the highest order and your write up on it was pitch perfect. I have seen the film exactly 2 times. Fist time in the theater and then one more time after I bought the Blue Ray collection. It was even worse the second time.

                                Doctor Strange

I really enjoyed this movie. Lot to absorb but I thought the pace was pretty good and the story was solid. Villain was just okay but Marvel has a hard time getting good villains because it doesn't seem like they have any time left to flesh them out and then they kill them off. Visuals were top notch. Real trippy. It's funny going in I didn't know much about Doctor Strange or GotG and also Ant-Man to a lesser extent and have thought all three of those movies are excellent. All in all I really enjoyed it a lot and look forward to Doctor Strange making appearances in the MCU.

                                Amazing Spider-Man 2

I never got a chance to see this movie. Got a good deal on the 4K/HDR blu-ray recently and wow let me tell you this movie looks stunning in 4K. I actually thought this was pretty good. I liked Garfield as Spidey (although Holland looks to be the best yet). He was funny and played the part well. Lot going on in this movie and even though it was pretty long I still felt like it was rushed because of how much they were trying to put into it. Bummed that the setup for the Sinister 6 isn't going to happen now (at least not in this version). But a good action flick that looks amazing so no harm in purchasing the blu-ray.
