Swing Vote. It was ok, but something I'll probably never watch again. The political ads were pretty funny however and I get the satire overall on campaigns, but it wasn't outstanding.

My bad. I tried to stay spoiler free, but I can see where some of the things I said were potential spoilers.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Re: The Wrestler
Spoiler
Yeah, it definitely does. Plus the stuff that Rourke actually had to do like cut his forehead with glass (I think that's what he did). It was harsh, brutal, and actually almost unwatchable at times to think that they actually do this stuff to themselves along with the stuff they put in their bodies.
I also found it kind of displeasurable to see Marisa Tomei naked. She has a rockin' body indeed, but she was always kind of one of those people (especially at her age now) that I kind of liked that she didn't get in a film like this, at least that I have seen. Not to say that her role was overkill because it was perfect, but I liked the scenes with her like when they sung Ratt in the bar. I guess in the end it's just a movie that would be tough for me to watch with my parents is all, that and it's not too re-watchable.
And for some, the ending will leave a lot to be desired. They delivered the message that they wanted to, but I think people wanted to know a little more about what happens "after" if that makes sense. Again, I got the message, but it's one of those things that makes you wonder if that's the only message they wanted to show.
Oh, and I actually really did like the opening shot of the movie. One single fluid shot of all of those articles panning downward with radio clips in the background. That was awesome.
Anyway, I saw Funny People last night. Great film. For being such a long comedy, I thought the pacing throughout was really consistent and fluid. It only dragged for me during the climax of the film 2/3s of the way through, but other than that I thought the cast was fantastic and hilarious. I loved all the cameos and the shout outs to older comedians with the poster collection.

I watched Taken last night. Very entertaining action film. Liam was a BAMF; he was Jason Bourne the Father. Loved it.
I just finished watching Sudden Impact, probably the third best Dirty Harry film though the franchise is starting to feel a bit...hokie? The Nazi police chiefs and DAs are beginning to be dull, but I liked the "vacation" investigation.

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
The Third Man - I watched this on Blu Ray last night. First off, for being a B&W, 40 year old film, it looked wonderful. Criterion did a terrific job with this transfer. I have the DVD version and that looks great, but the blu is definitely a step above. HD really reveals more facial expressions (especially minor smirks and eye glances) in the actors faces than DVDs, much less VHS, did. The film itself is great. The post-war Vienna setting is beautiful. Of course Orson Welles completely steals the film at the last second, probably one of the best supporting roles ever. Simply awesome performance and its so simple, beautiful to watch him work.

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
I watched two Edward G. Robinson movies in the last couple days however since it's late I won't post my reviews til the afternoon time.
Needless to say, one was a bit lacking in script but Eddie G's performance made it worthwhile. The other was a little fanciful and had a fantastic scene stealing performance by Louis Calhern but overall a bit uneven.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
