Yeah I didnt like it either. Not sure what the big fuss was about.

Maybe because i'm not addicted to facebook or something and like i said it was ok but i'd heard a few people say movie of the year etc and for me it was nowhere near that level. Each to their own i guess.

I know it's based on 'mostly' true events but i really didn't give a damn about any single character in the movie. I knew how it was going to end and i was wishing the whole thing fell in heap to be honest because of how much of douche the main guy was.

Watched knight and day last night. It was a lot better than I thought it would be. 4/5 stars.


Do you really care where I sent this from?

Knight and Day was a really good movie. My wife made me watch it and I thought it would suck, but Cruise and Diaz had great chemistry. A lot of humor also in it.

Yeah Im into facebook but I just didnt like the movie. Not really sure why. Some people have called this the movie of the decade or "our" generation but like you said to each their own.

Knight and Day was a really good movie. My wife made me watch it and I thought it would suck, but Cruise and Diaz had great chemistry. A lot of humor also in it.

Yeah I wasent expecting it to be as funny as it was.

The dialogue is like, well, a porno, and the action is like, well a porno. And it has Bobby Deniro.

Black Swan

Beautiful cinematography, beautiful craftsmanship, devoted acting, and gripping intensity. Aronofsky is not my favorite "unique style" director and this was yet again another hindrance for me like it was in The Wrestler. There were many one-note characters and moments capable of having good dialogue were thrown out the window for telling a story through movement (which is what they do in ballet anyway, so maybe it was intentionally done).

Kind of an interesting movie which to me didn't feel like it went for a beginning and ending, and instead started and finished with its "middle." That is, the movie was full of conflict and belittled itself when it came to wanting to achieve any resolution.

Natalie Portman was fantastic, so much went into this role for her. The music was glorifying and ambitious, and kept me on the edge of my seat most of the time. I wouldn't recommend this to most of my friends because they aren't into "out of the ordinary" when it comes to watching movies, but this was a good once-over for me. This movie was puzzling while watching it but it lacked the post-viewing puzzle, so I'm not finding a tingling inclination to see it again any time soon.

Obviously the story-telling through movement was intentionally done, it wasn't subtle enough for it to be by chance. Plus it just goes along with the ballet/dance connection.

Those one-note characters deepen and progress the story. If they were useless I could see minor/undeveloped characters as being a flaw, but they strengthened Nina's character and her story. Black Swan is, after all, (and this is the same for The Wrestler), all about the main character. Its essentially a character study on Nina and her development through the course of the preparation for the show.

How did it belittle itself?

So are you saying that you figured the puzzle out while you were watching it or you just don't care if its solved or not?

Ip Man

Wow. Just wow. Talk about an incredible, powerful, intense movie. At first glance, it's just another kung fu flick (and don't get me wrong, the fight scenes are some of the best I've ever seen, and kung fu flicks don't normally do much for me), but it's much more than that. It tells the story of "Ip Man", the martial arts master that later took Bruce Lee under his wing. Great direction, great fight scenes, great story, great soundtrack. Watch it even if you're not a kung fu fan.

All fairly dreary movies. But they all held my interest and entertained.

The Town was awesome.

Just saw Lucky You...heard it was a poker movie so naturally I watched. The poker playing was really good and accurate, but the ending completely ruined the movie. Rounders still tops all poker movies.

If so, yeah, the at-the-tables scenes weren't actually that bad, but I wasn't really interested in any of the actual plot that they were trying to get across.

Yeah, that's the one.

I was into the plot but mainly focused on the at-the-table stuff, but like I said, the ending completely ruined it. There's no way anyone in their right mind does that in that scenario.

Well I was afforded the opportunity of watching the 2010 version of True Grit. All I have to say is this move had me hooked from beginning to end. It really felt timeless in the sense that I could see John Ford directing this. I also like that the movie is more faithful to the book and you really see the motivations of the characters. I was really taken by Jeff Bridges' portrayal of Rooster Cogburn especially the scene where he tries to prove that he can see well enough to shoot a target. You really get the sense that Cogburn was a man of pride and somewhat twisted honor despite being a drunkard and clearly unable to fully carry out his job.

Mat Damon was so good in his role that I forgot that he was in it. That says a lot about him as an actor. I may not like a lot of the movies he's in but he did a great job in this. The true star of the film however was Hailee Steinfeld as Mattie Ross. She blew me away with her bearing and the way she handled the character. There were a lot of scenes where it could've been wince inducing if she didn't do as good of a job as she did.

This has to be one of the best Westerns i've seen in a long time and it definitely stands up favorably to the classics of the Golden Age of Western film. The Coen Brothers should be commended for making such a superb piece of work.

5 stars easily.

The Social Network: I feel comfortable calling it the best movie of 2010. Just barely ahead of Inception.
