Two movies here- one new, and one old:

Lincoln Lawyer - 8/10 Very intense, albeit courtroom drama. I don't even like courtroom anything, but this one was very well done.

2012 - 4/10 Awful, awful version of the apocalypse.

Watched Kick-*** on Netflix, since I never got around to seeing it in theaters. Thought it was pretty good, I would it give an 8.5/10. Action scenes especially the ones involving Hit-Girl were very well done, and the acting all around was pretty solid. Also like how it was unique compared to other Superhero movies.

Crazy, but I just saw Shawshank Redemption last week. Great movie if you've never seen it.

Better late than never. Shawshank is a classic. Easily one of my top 3 movies of all time.

Doesn't that movie come on TNT like every weekend ? I know it comes on some channel every weekend. Been that way for the past 2 years now.

              Good movie though.

I loved that movie. Not a big fan of superhero movies, but this one seemed like how an early makings of a superhero is explained in detail.

Agreed. I picked it up on blu ray for $4 yesterday at a local blockbuster.

The 5 for $20 sale is insanely good.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

I watched a couple flicks one of which was a real early sci-fi channel flick from what I gather.

                          The Tower (1993)

                          Plot Summary:

Before Tony can get to work on the first day of his new job, he manages to lock himself out of his appartment. To get back in he uses the his new security pass, which resembles a credit card. The card becomes damaged when it is used to open his front door, and then causes mayhem at work when the main computer fails to identify Tony as the new employee. The high-tech building is run by computer, which interprets its programming as meaning; "destroy all threats". The BUILDING is out to get Tony.
Not much to say about this piece of cheese other than the fact they had to make Paul Reiser into a total clown to even get this plot in motion because no one is as silly as he is which leads to the building literally being out to get him.

I will give one positive word in and say that the introduction of the building and what it can do was pretty forboding and set the mood for what could've been a better story.

The acting is pretty bad and the deaths are rather slapstick nonetheless it's at least watchable and not a total waste of the hour and 20 minute run time.

The next flick I watched was a WWII era film from 20th Century Fox

                          Confirm or Deny (1941)

                          Plot Outline

Newsman Mitch and teletype operator Jennifer, whose job is to see he doesn't send innapropriate stuff out of the country, dodge bombs during the blitz of London while falling in love.
Mitch is played by Don Ameche and he does a pretty good job as the news man who'll do just about anything to get the biggest story of the war out to the public as he's dead set to report on the Invasion of England by the Nazis. In the course of doing so he meets Ministry of Information teletype operator Jennifer (played by Joan Bennett) who he becomes smitten with and brings along with him as he runs the Consolidated Papers Associated in London.

He meets Jennifer after striking a deal in order to get a dedicated line so that he can have a 40 minute lead on the story. They're both holed up in the London Underground as an air rad occurs. Mitch then uses his fast talking ways to get his operation into the wine cellar of a hotel while relying on the coded messages from pigeons that are waited on by a very young Roddy McDowell.

The movie captures the tensions and mood of the Blitz period quite well and while the romance between Ameche and Bennett seems a bit fast moving it does work within the context of the film. The movie also shows how vastly different war reporting was back then as the censors have a tight grip on what information can and can not come out which leads to the dramatic climax to the picture.

I give this a strong recommendation despite a somewhat slow start. Interestingly this movie could've been even better as it was originally going to be a Fritz Lang directed film but he opted out and stalwart "crank out the pictures" director Archie Mayo was given the assignment.

Just got done watching Skyline. It was pretty bad and the ending was worse. It felt like I was watching a "B" movie. Also had pretty bad actors.

I saw that last night. It felt like something was missing, but I couldn't put my finger on it. I thought it was slightly better than the previous two, but not as good a the first. Blackbeard was a ruthless, badass and I always enjoy Barbosa.
Anybody know if there was an extra scene after the credits?
