Marmaduke. My daughter liked it and that all that counts.

Going to watch the Lovely Bones with my wife this week, possibly tonight.

I just watched Robin Hood with Russell Crowe for the first time last night. I thought it was pretty good. Entertaining at least. It had a different take on some characters though. I always thought the Sheriff of Nottingham played a bigger role in the Robin Hood story, or did I make that up?

The sheriff does play a bigger role. But not in what I call this movie "Robin Hood Begins". IIRC Not until the last scene do you see the relationship between Robin Hood and The sheriff begin.

Just finished watching Cabo Blanco. (1980) Now you'd think a movie starring Charles Bronson and having Jason Robards in it would be a great flick but well....those two guys are the ONLY reason to watch this movie. It's a clear homage/ripoff of Casablanca. The movie doesn't know whether it wants to be half joking about it or dead serious. The pacing is a bit plodding in what were clearly scenes meant to add atmosphere and intrigue ends up feeling like filler because of the inferior acting talent on the film.

Nonetheless as I said Bronson and Robards keep this from being a total clunker but this is definitely for Bronson completists rather than someone just looking for a great flick. Even the ending is botched a bit with how the handle the fate of Robards' character.

Never understood the praise for Bronson. Yea, he was a good fit in The Dirty Dozen, but that movie was about the ensemble cast, not any one individual. And Death Wish today would get lost in the shuffled..... it was just unique at the time. I will admit there was the western he was in which ended up being a comedy, but I'll be damned if I can remember it off the top of my head. I just remember it being unique and Bronson just seemed to work for the role.

                Magnificent Seven?

I like Bronson's films because while he wasn't the greatest actor in the world he projected a common man image and was easy to relate to in that way. Sure, he made a lot of bad film choices but he always made the movies he was in at least interesting to one degree or another. In a lot of ways Bronson was a hobo version of Humphrey Bogart.

I read this post, and was confused because the first Bronson i thought of was the Tom Hardy flick, not Charles.

Black Swan...WOW!! What an intense flick. Aronofsky really likes doing personal conflict movies and he does them well. It would suck for perfection to mean that much and to affect you that strongly. 9/10 from me.

The Groom Wore Spurs (1951) A real average comedic film that has to do with a cowboy actor who is in debt to an underworld type figure and hires a lawyer (Ginger Rogers still lookin' great at age 40!) to help him wiggle out of the situation. He ends up using her by marrying her as the guy he owes money to did business with her father.

Anwways it's pretty tepid and Jack Carson who plays the cowboy star is alright in his role but it's really paint by numbers. Rogers and the supporting cast make this movie worth watching though.

Watched Source Code last night. Easily the best movie I have seen this year. I'm normally not the biggest fan of Jake Gyllenhaal, but he was great in this movie.

I've watched a lot of movies recently

Battle: LA -meh, went in with low expectations. It was enteratining but nothing special. Had some cool action scenes.

The Roommate: Decent but very predictable and not really thrilling. Good eye candy though, Leighton Meester is beautiful.

Country Strong: Really liked this one. I thought the cast was solid and enjoyed the plot. Leighton Meester was even better in this movie.

Paul: Not the best work from Pegg and Frost but I still found it funny. Seth Rogan as the alien was my favorite part of the movie.

Hall Pass: I like Owen Wilson and thought this was hilarious. Was dissapointed in Jenna Fischer though.

Sanctum: meh, was cool to look at but I couldn't care less about any of the characters or who died next.

Just Go With It: I'll put this on the same level as Grown Ups. Was decent but dissapointing overall and easily forgettable.

Adjustment Bureau-Damon and Blunt had great chemistry and carried the movie.

The Lincoln Lawyer: I loved it. McConaughey did a great job in the lead role and the supporting cast was terrific.
