Battle: Los Angeles. Very, very good alien invasion war movie. Action from start to finish. Only nitpick is that it could have been legendary if they went with R rated action instead of a PG-13.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Dylan Dog- 7.8
Your usually sort of campy movie with some pretty decent actors and a pretty narrow story. With all that said, i still enjoyed it. The special effects and costumes weren't very real looking in many segments but the overall look and feel of the movie were good.
Source Code-8.6
Good action/Thriller. The story moves sort of fast which is good because its not very complicated for the most part and i'm glad they didn't spend 50 mins trying to explain all the details. Jake did an excellent job with his role.
It was sort of interesting and creepy finding out his back story and seeing him in the state he was in, but other than that the movie was good.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I watched a couple Audie Murphy movies last night, for those who don't know Murphy was the most decorated veteran of WWII who went on to have a pretty solid career in B+ movies most of which were westerns.
The first film Bad Boy (1949) was Murphy's first starring role. It's a very typical B picture but it has a couple strong leads in it that help Murphy along. Murphy plays a teenage delinquent who gets himself in a whole heap of trouble with the law and gets taken into a Variety Club ranch in Texas. The head of the ranch tries to figure out why Murphy is such a loose cannon etc etc. The movie is very much a PR flick for the Variety Clubs of America which is not surprising because the producers of the film were guys who founded the Variety clubs. It's not a bad movie but it's pretty rote.
The one interesting thing to me was seeing character actor James Gleason in one scene throwing Murphy around trying to knock some sense into him. Gleason at the time was in his late 60s and he wasn't the buffest of guys so it was pretty jarring to see that.
The other movie I saw was a western called Drums Across the River (1954) which was a pretty good flick though it suffered from some bad editing and characters changing motivations rather quickly. Thankfully the movie breezes along nicely and there's some good action to it that would make you forget about some of those failings.
Now if you want to watch a truly classic and great Audie Murphy film I suggest No Name on the Bullet (1959) This is one of my favorite westerns made in the '50s so check it out if you can.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Finally got to see Sucker Punch last night after not being able to catch it at the cinema's and wow what a let down.
Sure the special effects were pretty amazing in parts but the story etc around it were just stupid imo. It was like Snyder had an idea about all these big **** set pieces and had to come up with some sort of story to explain it. I liken this movie to a Call of Duty MW game where it looks amazing, has these huge amazing set pieces but the story around it is a complete and utter waste of time.
6.5/10 from me.....Comment

I liked Green Lantern. Some things felt a little forced but it was a fun ride. Was it worth the 12.50 price for a ticket? ehhh lol.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Elimination. Condemned meets the Saw series on a shoe string budget would be the best way to describe this low budget horror flick. Very cliched, bad acting and dreadful CGI. The actresses are all hot, which is about the only thing it has going for it. If you like cheesy B-movies, this might be worth a viewing.Last edited by GAMEC0CK2002; 06-19-2011, 03:42 AM.Comment

The Green Hornet
Had some funny moments and wasn't bad at all. I'm glad they didn't try to make it serious as Seth Rogan was a good fit.GT: Herkyalert

Trailer Park Boys: The Movie. If you like the show, you will enjoy this movie. If you have seen the movie and not the show, I recommend you look into watching the show. Hilarious, low budget comedy. Bubbles was the funniest character. I wish they could of had Cyrus in the movie, but still solid comedy.
Shoot Em' Up-Good, deliberate over the top action movie. From killing people with carrots to a baby wearing a bulletproof vest. 90 minutes of action and entertainment.
The Last King of Scotland-Great perfomance by Forest Whitaker playing former Ugandan dictator Idi Adim. James McAvory, who always seems to annoy me for some reason, played Dr.Garrigan. Good movie, I would recommend.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Age of Heroes. Starring Sean Bean. Good story about a British Commando/Spec Ops unit needing to take out a German communications center during WWII and capture a special device.
Highly recommend. The actor who plays "Mac", the main training officer is awesome.Comment

This is pretty much the description I have for The Green Hornet that I watched last night. Nothing too memorable and while it had a few ok moments I'm glad I didn't pay to see it at the cinema.Comment
