Haha, well Easy A was an okay film (about what I expected), and I only caught onto the film after finding out what it was really about. At first, I thought it just had to do with something else school-related, which probably wasn't going to appeal to me. Emma Stone is likable enough to hit more lead roles in the future, something which I wasn't sure about before seeing this (I love her on the side, I just didn't know if she could carry).

Kung Fu Panda 2 was a good animated film, but I think this is where that line is drawn between what Dreamworks does, and what Pixar does. This is also why I'm disappointed in what Cars 2 appears to be doing, because it looks to be the first time that Pixar isn't doing things the way they normally would. Sure, the movie might end up being quality, but there's little magic or lasting appeal. Good action, good animation, good humor, decent villain and story, but forgettable in the end IMO.

Youth In Revolt, in my opinion, was awful. There wasn't a story in this film worth making a movie out of, and the humor was beyond dry. The parts that would have worked best in the film were already shown in the trailer. Michael Cera's range is very, very limited. I'm surprised people had recommended it to me in the past.

I think G.I. Joe was a little too much run-of-the-mill CGI action for me to go in-depth with it. It kept me awake, but I'm not running in line for a ticket when there's a sequel.

Awesome. Had my adrenaline pumping the entire time. The music choices play perfectly with the action scenes.

Black Death was awesome through and through.

But there's an original motion picture soundtrack??

"Hey, honey, what's that you're listening to?"
          "Black Death"
"I didn't know you were into metal"
          "I'm not"

Middle Men-A very good movie about the men who got rich off of internet porn, and all the problems that came with it. Similar to The Social Network. I doubt everything is true in the movie but it's still interesting.

I hated that movie. Probably the least funny comedy I have seen in the last 5 years. Each to their own I guess....

Flight of the Phoenix-Pretty bad. The plane crash scene was cool, although not realistic that most people survived with no injuries. The rest of the movie felt cheesy.

Red Hill-Also pretty bad. It starred True Blood actor Ryan Kwanten. The plot was ridiculous. Not a good western at all.

                        Date Night

The movie kind of ended with the same sour taste in my mouth that Rush Hour 3 did. I went in with decent expectations, thinking there would be shining moments with the bad moments, but I only ended up spurting out uncomfortable laughter in moments that were written for comedic purposes. The humor was dry, repetitive, and dragging.

Steve Carell and Tina Fey were tolerable, but nearly unlikable as a couple as time went on. Props for the casting of side, characters (Wahlberg, Liotta, Fichtner, Franco, Kunis, Common), but outside of Wahlberg, every role just seemed so unfitting, even for the story's sake. The setup was okay, but the delivery was so nontangential to what really should have come into play. I felt it could have gone more on the Mr. and Mrs. Smith home front in terms of the awkward relationship, but that part was almost completely left out of this film, and even adding an extra ten minutes of that would have helped the brevity of the good scenes.

The end will more than likely leave you with a sour taste in your mouth. Not the ending itself, but once the credits roll, you will question whether the last ninety minutes you spent on the couch were worth your while. The film most definitely has lasting appeal if you want to see Mark Wahlberg with his shirt off, but I'm thinking the majority of the OS community isn't swinging for that team.

Just watched: The Adjustment Bureau. I thought it was alright. I liked the chemistry between Damon and the lead actress.

I wasn't completely sold on the whole chaimen and bureau thing they had going on.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

Ugh, long night. Let's get these over with.

                                Cars 2

After creating the thread and posting the ugly Rotten Tomatoes overall score, I must say I went into the theater with a clear head and decided to ignore the negative criticism about the film. Needless to say, despite it being Pixar's poorest effort when it comes to delivering a story with a beating heart, I very much enjoyed the film.

The annoying part for me was, the positives in this film were also the negatives, and vice versa. The biggest issue was that, thinking back, this film was "doomed to fail" from the start. Nobody wanted Cars 2, and it wasn't necessarily because they disliked the first one, but it was because there wasn't really anything interesting to bring to the table if they wanted to stick true to the original's formula. So, what did they do? They deviated from it. They left Radiator Springs. Hell, they left North America. They went international, and showed us a new world of more talking cars, ships, planes, etc. This is both good and bad. What happened to the first movie heavily involving characters like Sally and Doc? A lot of times, I really felt like they ignored the first film in this regard. People will see the connections between the two, but this "new world" that we jump into is probably too sudden to feel the wanted connection. But again, if you wanted to make the story compelling enough, you probably had to do what they did.

As you know from the trailers, Mater takes the lead (even more so than Lightning McQueen, at least in terms of screen time) and is mistaken for an undercover spy. I really thought I would hate this aspect. Truthfully, I wanted Mater killed off, he's annoying. And yeah, he still is annoying... but I can't put up a double-standard here. Dumb & Dumber worked very well with the tactical ploy of two nimrods getting away with everything by making the most ridiculous decisions and being regarded as undermined professionals. Cars 2 used Mater in the same way, and frankly, it was fun... stupid, but fun.

I enjoyed the action, the racing, the gadgetry, the animation, and the 3D. I think the movie lost some of its luster as it neared the end, but it kept me engaged, as well as the children. For a G-rated movie, I don't know if all of the explosions and car destruction (in other words, cars die) in the film, but I'm not going to take that up with the MPAA. If they want to sell merchandise... and I see how they can even use "Monster Truck Mater" as a toy... they might as well get everyone to see their film.

It wasn't tied up in a pretty bow like most Pixar movies do, either leaving some sort of raised hairs, goosebumps, spine chills, or teary eyes... but I saw Kung Fu Panda 2 last weekend for free as well, and I'm going to have to say that Pixar still does something else with their films that I enjoy more than DreamWorks. Kung Fu Panda 2 is a great animated film, but I just don't walk out of the theater remembering it the same way that I will with Pixar films, and I can assure myself that this will be a Blu-ray purchase for me down the road.

                                Bridesmaids

Been wanting to see it ever since I got my Forgetting Sarah Marshall Blu-ray along with the free ticket for this film, and I finally mustered up some free time to get it done. It's a chick flick with man humor, I think that's the best way to put it. Everything that's done in the film is all about weddings, or baking, or clothes, or bitches bein' bitches... something that I am not interested in at all. But give Judd Apatow a pen and a piece of paper, and he translates it to something that's enticing enough for any fan of his films to want to watch this one.

This film is like a free-fall ride that got all ****ed up during construction, leaving everything backwards: it starts at the top, slowly descends to the ground, then shoots back up at 65 MPH and you get off. It's not the way most stories are told, and like a ride that climbs to the top, you are sitting there wondering when it's finally going to hit its low. The main character is literally dug deeper and deeper into a hole that you wonder how in the hell she can climb out of it, or how the humor can still remain in place when our lead is in a bad place. I guess that's why we always have the fat character to keep us company.

There were many scenes and one-liners that were laugh-out-loud hilarious. The biggest problem this film had was trying to close a scene that didn't have any intentional humor in it, like they had to transition in a way that would allow you to get at least one chuckle, but it would drag to the point where it was awkward conversation, and yet still no humor. Those were the only stretches this film could have done without to cut it to two hours flat (instead of the extra five minutes). Otherwise, it was a very good and funny film. Not the most lasting appeal of recent comedies out there, but it was certainly worth the once-over on multiple fronts.
