Batman Year One: This was kind of odd to determine if I actually liked it. It is a great story and really is as much about Gordon as it is about Batman (much less Bruce Wayne, for that matter), but the comic has that already. The movie itself doesn't add anything to the experience. In a lot of ways it basically felt like a book-on-tape. The internal monologues are interesting, but implementing them into motion pictures is apparently more difficult than reading thought bubbles on a page because it seemed off in most instances. I liked the voices for the characters and felt they fit with the characterization that Frank Miller gave them. Bruce/Bats is calculated and almost scientific in his approach and McKenzie definitely has that tone down. Cranston is a great Gordon and the highlight of this animated movie. It is cool to watch, but with what the film ends up being the whole thing just doesn't feel needed at all. Nothing is really added or expanded upon. It is literally the comic as a movie.

Thought I get into the spirit.
Paranormal Activity
Never seen it prior to Saturday night.
Wishing I hadn't.
Just overall bad. The acting is horrible (the really only scary thing too) and unfortunately the woman is the prominent figure on screen because outside some nice mammary glands, she was awful to watch.
And that ending...seriously?
Red State
Now this movie I could get into. Really liked it. Not so much a scary horror but an intense one.
Great title as it can definitely apply to the film in many ways.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Frozen: Terrifying. If I'm ever on a ski-lift this movie will be on my mind and it will be a long trip up to the top.
Red State: I loved the dialogue. I found it in the horror genre on Netflix but it doesn't really belong there. John Goodman was outstanding, I loved his role.
Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings: I'm a sucker for the Wrong Turn movies. Right off the bat this one had more gore and more nudity then the other 3 movies combined. Overall it was filled with cliches and idiotic decisions by the characters, but it kept me entertained for 90 minutes.Last edited by Buckeyes_Doc; 10-31-2011, 04:57 PM.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I usually check every tuesday and thursday to see what's new. Lately it has been very slim pickings. I watch more movies on Zune then Netflix nowadays.
Netflix need to put everything on disc format into stream format. Would make it much better. I don't care for their discs because half the time they arrive cracked or extremely scratched up to the point it won't even play.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I've had probably 4-5 total discs that I couldn't get through because it would skip in parts. I haven't had any problems with movies, but I know it happened with Sopranos and Carnivale when I went through them. Hopefully it won't happen during Six Feet Under.

Hatchet: Decent horror movie that pays homage to the classic 80's horror film without being a remake. I felt like I was watching a comedy plus a horror movie.
Alexandra's Project: A dark and intense movie about a response to a unhappy marriage. Good plot that kept me on edge throughout the movie.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

I watched Drag Me To Hell last night. It was the worst horror movie I've ever seen. The main character looked confused the entire movie and it just felt really awkward. An overall really bad movie.Alabama Crimson Tide

I love that. Perfect blend of camp, humor, and creepy.

I do too, this one just seemed like they tried way too hard to make everything seem awkward. I mean, she's a real person with an evil spirit haunting her but after all her little episodes she just went back to normal life like nothing happened.Alabama Crimson Tide
