Wrath of the Titans. Well worth the bargain matinee price. I actually enjoyed Clash quite a bit, but this one left me pretty hollow. Of course good screen candy but the dialogue was quite amateur ... very scattered story telling.

Inception. Waited all this time. Probably because I knew I'd have to watch it again after what everyone had said. Yep....gotta do that and looking forward to it.

Me & Orson Welles. Good movie, just confused as to why Zack Efron was in it.

Set it Off. Been forever since I first saw this. Very good female robbers flick. Recommended.

          Tower Heist
          - Benn Stiller, Eddie Murphy.

It had a few good moments, but overall, left something to be desired. Brownie points for Eddie Murphy... funny as hell.

          Knockout
          - (Stone Cold) Steve Austin, Daniel Madger

The traditional, sometimes corny and predictable, good story drama. I took it for what it was worth and stayed interested throughout the whole movie.

Ghost Rider 2. Terrible. Bad CGI to boot.

              Twilight's Last Gleaming (1977)

This was an unapologetic left wing movie but it was pretty interesting mainly due to the veteran and very good cast headed up by Burt Lancaster. Essentially the story is about Lancaster's character General Lawrence Dell escaping a prison with a couple other inmates and infiltrating and taking charge of an ICBM Missile installation with the ability to set off 9 ICBMs. The reason for doing this is that he wants the president to announce to the world the reason for the war in Vietnam as it was done as a means to show the Russians that the US would fight even if it meant killing tons of their own soldiers in the battle.

The scenes with the President (Charles Durning looking kinda frumpy and reminding me of a cross between Newt Gingrich and early Bill Clinton) with his advisors were well acted especially by Durning. The elderly Melvyn Douglas as Durning's friend and National Security advisor was quite good in an understated way. The movie is a bit naive on some fronts especially with the idea that the president will risk his life in order not to have the nukes go off and asking his friend to release the information should he die. We all know that in this instance the US would NEVER allow such incriminating evidence to go out there as long as it's a threat to the Military Industrial Complex.

Moving aside from the politics the movie is saved by having very good actors in it so even some of the logical fallacies and naivete doesn't come across so bad. Burt Lancaster does a great job of showing his character being a man of principle and Paul Williams as one of his associates does a good job first being freaked out about the enormity of what he's doing and then gradually getting into it though at the end he explains to Lancaster's character that it doesn't matter because of the reasons I mentioned above and how they'll never get out of the silo alive. (they asked for tons of money and transportation to another country) heck, this movie even has Richard Widmark as a gung ho general that tries to call Lancaster's bluff and very nearly forces Lancaster to release the nukes!

Anyways, while it's very '70s in its action sequences and overall presentation it does have some pretty good acting and the tension builds up sufficiently enough. The movie does slow down for one stretch when Widmark gets the okay to try and kill Lancaster and his cohorts by planting a small mobile tactical nuke outside the door of the command center where Lancaster and Co. are.

This is about a 3 star flick to me so it's not too bad.

My next movie is probably going to be a real schlockfest though the 1990 cable movie Hitler's Daughter LOL

Recently watched Mischief (1985) which is set in 1956 and follows a shy teenager who befriends a new rebellious neighbor. I really enjoy these type of films that are like a day in the life, coming of age stories. Stars Doug Mckean, Catherine Mary Stewart, Kelly Preston & Jami Gertz. I hadn't seen the film in awhile so when I came across the dvd I picked it up. Nice little fun film.

Once Upon A Time In the West. A very good old school Western (1968). If you're into Westerns, this is one to see.

Contraband-8.0 Fine movie, not too crazy, very predictable actually. The story was alright and the characters were ok, really nothing spectacular about the movie but it was a fun watch. Mark Walhberg makes anything watchable lol

Man on a Ledge 7.8 I expected the entire movie to be about his ledge but it had a bit more behind it, still nothing special though. Actually think this is Sam's better roles over Terminator and The Clash of the Titans sequels.

I'll be watching this movie with the GF next week. How much of it would you say has to do with him being on the ledge? half? the last quarter of the film?

I liked that as well. Sure it had a fair few "yeah right, as if" type moments but overall it was very entertaining and I thought Simon Pegg did a great job as the comic relief.

I just saw The Cabin in the Woods.

                              LOVED IT.

Easily the best flick in its genre since Scream in my opinion. Has the same feel to it. Refreshing plot line as well.

The Sitter - It sucked. Classic "All the funny parts are in the trailer" movie.

War Horse- I dug it. Good flick. If you like animals you'll probably tear up a few times.

Good to hear. I'm hoping I can catch this sometime this weekend.

Hunger Games - Meh. That pretty much sums it up for me. It is a good movie, just very mediocre in a lot of areas, but the only thing that really really bugged me was the lack of any kind of climax (and announcing it is definitely cheesy). Plus, I wish the whole shaky cam thing would just die.
