I'll probably pick it up when I have some money.

Yeah 21 Jumpstreet was hilarious, much better then I thought it was going to be. Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are great together. And every scene with Ice Cube was hysterical.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Watched Immortals yesterday. Hard to explain how I felt about it. I liked it...the battle scenes were pretty awesome, the slow-mo was actually well used and everything, and seeing the Gods kick *** was cool, but there was something missing to keep it from being a real good movie.
Definitely worth a watch on Blu-Ray, though. The sound was incredible and the picture was real nice.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Last few weeks....
All three of James Dean's films: "Giant", "East of Eden" and "Rebel Without a Cause". All three were excellent, and "Giant" was just brilliant. I'm officially a James Dean fan.
Past two nights: "A Clockwork Orange" and "Breakfast at Tiffany's". What a combo huh? LOL Loved both of these movies and can see why so many people love Audrey Hepburn. "Clockwork" was a lot more artistic and surreal than I thought it'd be, made the subject matter more digestable and thought-provoking.
Gonna see "Roman Holiday", "High Noon" and "On the Waterfront" next.
Theatrically, saw "Avengers" twice and "Snow White". Avengers was outstanding, and Snow White was good entertainment with amazing settings.GO 'HAWKS!

Breakfast at Tiffany's just pissed me off when I watched it, but that was several years ago.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
It had a Hollywood ending, but I was expecting that. Book ending would have been too much of a downer for audiences back in 1961 I guess, though it was more realistic.GO 'HAWKS!

I would actually welcome a truer book adaptation, but I just hated her character. I don't know why, but I had a strong reaction against her.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
So, yeah... I didn't like Project X much. As I got further in it improved slightly and I'd give it a 2/5. The second main character was just impossible to like.
But, watched 21 Jump Street tonight and thought it was awesome. Found myself laughing constantly, and I might actually buy it at some point. 4/5
Also watched The Artist and I can now say that I have no problem with it winning Best Picture last year, although I personally still would have went with Drive (if it weren't snubbed). But, great movie. 5/5Last edited by CC; 06-27-2012, 10:39 PM.Comment

Machine Gun Preacher. I'm lukewarm on this somewhat "based on true events" action movie. The acting was solid and "preachy" parts were expected.Comment

Limitless
I gotta say, not bad at all. I thoroughly enjoyed it throughout. Some nice visual editing effects to help with the story line, and if a sequel is in the works I look forward to seeing it. Bradley Cooper has always been high on my list, but this is the first time I've seen him lead a film by himself, and I was impressed. Almost sorry that I missed this one in theaters, but for now the Netflix viewing is all I'll need from it.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
First of all, I want to thank ubernoob a LOT for pointing me towards The Man From Nowhere. This was an excellent movie all around despite some of the tepid to bad reviews i've seen from IMDB after watching it.
This movie really does have an emotional core and if you strip it down to the marrow you'll see that it's about a guy who's lost all faith in the world and doesn't care about anyone but that little girl means the world to him to the point that he'd literally risk his life fighting for her.
The beginning of the movie set the mood very nicely and had a Leon: The Professional feel to it. I thought that the girl gave a very haunting performance. The copy I watched this in was dubbed so I didn't get the full impact of it but the english dubbers did a really nice job conveying the emotion of the film. Again, seeing it in a dubbed format made me lose a bit of the nuance of the film (the Korean writing on paper and such was not translated) but I got the idea pretty well.
Won Bin who was the star of the film had great screen presence and his look throughout the film reminded me of a rougher, more dangerous version of the anime character Spike Spiegal from Cowboy Bebop. Towards the end of the movie Won Bin drops that look and cleans himself up in what was a transformative moment for the character which I won't give away but needless to say it's a key point in the film.
This movie has a ton of action in and and the choreography is pretty damn good. There are several fight scenes that impressed me immensely and reportedly Won Bin did all the fight/stunt scene work so it adds credibility to it. That being said, this movie can be pretty damn grisly at times which made it a bit tough watching for me towards the end. The ending is quite powerful and even though the movie is 2 hrs long it didn't drag at all.
There were some things I didn't like (the cops after Won Bin subplot and the various drug/gangster factions could've been explained a little better) but all in all this movie was well worth watching. I agree with Ubernoob's overall rating of 8.5
