Put this on for the hell of last night while trying to fall asleep. I'm surprised so many people agreed to have cameos in this mess. Sometimes really bad comedies can be funny i.e. Freddy Got Fingered. Not the case for this one.

Fortunately I was able to fall asleep before it ended.

Given the characters and the material (as well as the title), I thought this was the worst story Pixar has come up with yet. All of the pieces were there, and this was simply a ninety minute folly, all things aside. I knew from the first trailer of the goofy looking character models and such that it would have its flaws, and it sort of had it throughout.

I thought Pixar was better than this, but I guess I was wrong. The animation was top-notch, but Merida deserved a much better tale than this film told.

The Grey. Technically very solid with great acting performances all around. That being said, it was depressing to see play out. Survival story where nature does what it does. Only question was who was going to give in or fight back. Had no problem with the ambiguous ending--the end result would be the same, IMO.

Apartment 143

Call it a "Paranormal Activity" knock-off, if you will. Though they go for an occasional jump-scare, this found footage film is a bit more of a character revelation mystery than anything else. It actually went pretty okay and smoothly, working in some good scare tactics that I hope PA films can use in the future. There were maybe one too many characters worked into it (where they don't even really play a role in the film, perhaps other than to film), but everything seems passable until about the last half hour, where everything kind of tapers off and
begins to show all that is mediocre about it.

If you're just a fan of these kinds of movies, it's only 80 minutes out of your time. Otherwise, it's nothing special. If PA can implore some of the style of creeping out the audience like Apartment 143 did every so often, then there isn't really anything else about this one.

Over the past week, I've watched Limitless and Contraband.

Both movies were worth the time... Considering Limitless was on Netflix, I wasn't expecting a whole lot as their new release movies rarely seem to be any good, but this one was a nice surprise.

Contraband was a typical action story with a pretty predictable plot, but I still enjoyed it.

I would recommend both movies.

I saw Rudy recently. Great movie, as expected. I also like the movie because i can kind of relate to it. I mean, im not trying to play for notre dame but Im a small guy that wants to play football. Anyway, once again, its a great movie!

I alao saw San Turino a few days ago. A good movie with a "bitter-sweet" ending.

Well I know you've seen The Social Network, and as a baseball fan I would have expected you to already have seen Moneyball (though that may not be true at all, in which case you should see it).
