Oh he wore contacts. I knew something else was throwing me off. After sleeping on it, I like that they tried to make the actors look alike. And now that I actually think about the film past my first initial reaction, it had pretty complicated and in depth character development especially in JGL's character. I think the me wishing for a 'sunshine and daisies everybody gets a trophy' ending skewed my view of it. In retrospect it couldnt end any other way.

Ah, I thought that was your hangup but didn't want to say anything yet. One of my friends I saw it with had the same reaction at the end.

      Spoiler

I can't wait to get the blu-ray. JGL just blows me away in this.

As a fairly new parent (18 months) Looper was hard to watch, but very good.

All this was missing was about a dozen snap cuts and a talking baby. IDK what it is but this film made Mila Kunis way less attractive to me.
The voice "acting" by Seth McFarlane was the biggest detraction from the movie for me but as I said after viewing it, I thought it was HILARIOUS. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the film as much. I do agree that if Seth wants to branch out he needs to hire others to do the voice acting or he needs to expand his repertoire.

He said he kept trying to do a Boston Irish accent, but it just kept sounding like Peter, so he said "**** it."

It kept reminding me of Peter Griffin too, but I still thought it was a solid movie. And the bolded part is straight up blasphemy.

When she's not tying to be sexy and seducing, shes really not sexy or all that cute even. Kinda like a Russian squirrel face to me. Idk what it is. And her voice is just ugh. I oddly enough was watching Friends with Benefits today and she just doesn't do it for me. In that one scene in Black Swan she was hot.

Speaking of which, I just kind of find it funny how Seth MacFarlane reminds you most of Family Guy, when Mila Kunis is straight up Meg.

The Hobbit (3D). Having only seen LOR: Return of the King, gotta say I enjoyed this one. The 3D was outstanding--as good, if not better than Avatar. Great story telling and non-stop action.

Q: Was this a prequel to the LOR trilogy?

Yeah, it's the first of the three-part prequel to LOTR.

ET - I honestly haven't seen this since I had the VHS as a kid which I obviously tried my best to wear out. It is still just as magical and emotional as I remember it. John Williams just blows me away with everything he does. I hate to sound nostalgic, but I miss the "light" sounding orchestra work of older films compared to the BRROMMM BROMMM dubbing that movies are doing now thanks to Hans. Williams can simply capture any mood or emotion without being over-bearing on 'noise.' There's a sense of wonder and adventure in each section, but he is still able to capture a sense of foreboding threat while still be soft.

Well said. E.T. is a fantastic movie. The music at the end of the movie when they are saying goodbye to E.T. is great. You can definitely feel the emotion.

I never wanted to watch E.T. because I thought it was about the early career of John Tesh. (ba dum tsshh)

Watch The Magnificent 7 on BD. Was at my in-laws and let me tell you, BD + Sharp Quattron = almost too real!

I haven't seen this movie in decades and I'm not sure who may not have seen it, so I'll spoiler cover this but there's always one thing that bothered me:

Friday - I feel like this similar to Dazed and Confused (though not nearly as good overall) simply because "nothing" really happens, but its still an epic movie. Probably the last time Chris Tucker wasn't annoying as **** on screen.

This Is 40: In my opinion, this is Apatow's best movie. It is absolutely hilarious, it's heartfelt, and I really just loved the hell out of this movie.
