Umm...this sounds like the piece Robin Williams just wrote about Jonathan Winters after he recently passed.... so wha?

Saw "Mama". Typically love GDT's stuff, but recently he is disappointing me, especially with Don't Be Afraid of the Dark. I think someone earlier said that the ending had a lot to be desired. He was right.

That's weird. I have no idea who Jonathan Winters is and haven't seen this piece you're talking about. Without getting too much into it, my dad had some rough things happen to him as a kid and has never been good with showing any kind of emotion. The one thing we always could bond over was music, so we watched that special and taped it on the VCR. I think it must have been in the early 90s. I guess that moment just stood out to me.

It was weird...it sounded like a paraphrase...hehe. Sorry, not to derail the thread.

GI Joe: Retaliation A fun ride from beginning to end. Loved it.

The trailer for the new fast and the furious movie looks sweeeeeeet!

Pain and Gain, very humorous movie until it's seriousness hits you like a brick and you see like the pictures of the real folks behind the ordeal. On the movie, one of Michael Bays better ones, well told and acted

42 or Oblivion. Which one should I see this afternoon? I'm a sci-fi and sports fan, so both interest me. The other one will probably have to wait until released on Blu-Ray.

              Atlanta Braves
              - Auburn Tigers - Nashville Predators

Tai Chi Master. A treat if you're into old school martial arts flicks. Big fan of Jet Li's earlier work.

I haven't seen either but logically Oblivion would be better experienced on the big screen.

Already noted this in the "42" thread, but I was underwhelmed by it. Seemed like a made for TV movie in a lot of spots.

                            Welcome to Mooseport

Decided to flip to it one morning when it was on TV. Nothing special, but it engaged me more than I thought it would. I actually thought there were about four or five pretty good laugh out loud moments, and this homely kind of comedy normally wouldn't give me that many. Romano wasn't atrocious, and it surprised me to see that this was Gene Hackman's last ever film before retiring. I didn't even notice that he retired. Unfortunately, I wouldn't call this film the highest of notes to finish on, but at least I didn't turn away from it either.

Tough to say. What's eerie to me might not be the same for you.

In recent memory, I thought Sinister and The Woman In Black had their pretty good moments. There were bits that would sometimes turn me off, like perhaps because "I hoped they didn't go that direction with it," but otherwise they made for good Redbox rentals.

Otherwise, I can't shy away from mentioning films like The Ring, Paranormal Activity, The Descent... and foreign versions of horror films such as A Tale of Two Sisters, Dark Water, and some of the Ju-on (Grudge) films. I also loved The Orphanage (Spanish), which is a good movie as well as it being a scary movie.

In fact, just look up foreign horror films on Netflix. All of them are creepy in nature by default. American horror films have trouble staying away from mainstream Hollywood gimicks and throwaways that take the eerie tone out of the film. Some do it right however.

                              Spider-Man 3 is terrifying.

The things that happen to a movie when Hollywood executives shoehorn an extra character into a movie so they can sell merchandise are truly and completely horrifying.

I tried watching it on TV last week and couldn't make it through the first hour. It was somehow even worse than I remember it being.
