    Hitchcock

I really enjoyed this movie. I thought Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren had great chemistry and both played their parts expertly. The score was great, as was the cinematography and editing; all a nice ode to one of my all-time favorite movie-makers. The blending of Hitchcock's personal and professional life was a great touch.

Scarlett Johannsen was a perfect choice to play Janet Leigh, as she can pull off that 1950's-60's movie star look and not seem out of place.

And, bonus points for the Ralph Macchio cameo!

In the theater: This is the End. Pretty funny. I enjoyed it.

At home: Total Recall (the remake): For what it is, it's not too bad. And it has Biel and Beckinsale.

                The Hobbit

Never had a desire to go see it despite being a fan of the LOTR trilogy, just looked boring. Was a lot better then I expected, looking forward to the next 2 movies now

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

If you've seen at least 3 movies this summer (May-now), go ahead and rank 'em.

                    For me...

                    1. Star Trek Into Darkness
                    2. Man of Steel
                    3. Fast and Furious 7
                    4. Iron Man 3
                    5. GI Joe Retaliation
                    6. Epic
                    .
                    .
                    7. Pain and Gain
                    .
                    .
                    .
                    .
                    8. After Earth (wasn't THAT bad, but definitely nowhere near as good as the first 6)

                    Definitely going to see:
                    Despicable Me 2
                    Pacific Rim
White House Down (got a free ticket)

                        1. This Is The End
                        2. The Iceman
                        3. The Purge
                        4. The Hangover Part 3

                        Movies I'd like to see:
                        The Way, Way Back
                        The Kings Of Summer

None of the big summer blockbusters interest me. Unless there is something coming out in August that's slipping my mind.

I haven't gone to four movies this summer, just don't have the money and wife doesn't want to go so..

Only movie I got to see what Star Trek: ID and I loved it. Wanted to see Iron Man 3 but it's out of the theaters now, maybe I'll go see Man of Steel but I doubt it if I'm going alone.

I did just see 'Perks of Being a Wallflower' last night and it really got to me. I was surprised by this film, very well done and affecting.

I know someone said it was too 'angsty' for them, but given what the characters are dealing with I didn't feel it was angsty at all.

                              1. Man of Steel
                              2. Monsters University
                              3. Iron Man 3

Pirates! Band of Misfits - I haven't seen any impressions of this on here, but had heard its a pretty underrated movie from other parts of the internet so I blindly bought for $10 the other week. It is a blend of stop motion and CGI animation about a band of pirates vying for the Pirate of the Year awards. They go hunting for booty and wind up squaring off against Queen Victoria of England. This reminds me of How to Train Your Dragon in a way simply because it has its own tone and style distinctly different from most animation movies (ie: Pixar) and tells a good story with good characters that both children and adults can enjoy rather than succumbing to cliche tricks and jokes. Hugh Grant as the Pirate Captain is charming and quick-witted (even if a bit aloof at times). The rest of cast features Charles Darwin the scientist, Mr. Bobo the flash-card-talking chimpmanzee, and Martin Freeman as Captain's #2. Its fun and clever and feels fresh. Very underrated and immediately one of my favorite animated films.

Monsters University -I didn't think this needed to be made before I saw it and watching it didn't really change my mind even if the movie was fairly entertaining. The story they tell is fairly cliche, but I did enjoy the lesson learned and how the movie continues the story at the end. The animation is nice, but not as visually satisfying as other animated films such as The Croods. The cast is probably the best part of the film bringing in Nathan Fillion, Sean Hayes and Dave Foley, Joel Murray, Helen Mirren, and Charlie Day. Overall its worth a viewing, but probably not the price of theater tickets.

Really enjoyed all four movies (though my enjoyment of Iron Man 3 is slowly sliding down as I continue thinking about The Mandarin).
