You thought so? I really enjoyed it. I thought they could have done more with Ribisi (not in a quantitative "more screen time" kind of way, but he was much creepier in the first film), but otherwise I might have actually liked it more. The Family Guy fan in me found more little things to laugh about this time around. Everything in the first Ted felt like punch lines only without the subtlety (except the "This is art. Get it?" line). Maybe I just wasn't a big Flash Gordon fan.

I'll have to go back and watch the first one again. But I did like the second one. The plot was different in a good way. The comedy was pretty good. I don't remember much from the first one so like I said I need to watch it again to make a definitive judgement about which I like better.

I liked the gollum jokes on the lawyer, but not having Mila messed it up for me. The whole comic con scene was dumb.

Not saying I didn't laugh but I guess the development of Wahlberg was not there and that's what I liked a lot from the first.

Yeah, I guess that's where the differences are. Although I was initially dismissive about not having Mila, I guess I just didn't miss the character nagging that much this time around. Even Tammy-Lynn wasn't that bad.

And I died during the Comic-Con scene, different strokes I suppose haha.

Oh I totally agree. It was one of my favorite movies this year. But that's a flaw in pretty much every Apatow movie.

                  Kingsman: The Secret Service

The proper blend of weird, funny, chaotic, and straight up over the top that I expected it to be. A good rental where I never had to shake my head at the absurdities that was on screen, because from the opening shot I knew what I was getting myself into. There is still a place for these crazy action films, and they don't have to go in the wrong directions provided that they have characters which serve a purpose, a pace that stays light on its feet, and a mantra that says, "I'm bad-*** an I know it, so sit tight want watch me wreck stuff." It's a combination of The Recruit, Kick-***, Shoot 'Em Up, and Wanted... and it's cool because of it.

Maybe it's the British accent, I don't really know, but our main character was the right amount of cocky yet didn't come off as too douchey so we could stay behind him. No real love angle, not much of a vengeance motivation, just dragging someone from the low end to the upper echelon in a perhaps unconventional way, and it worked. Matthew Vaughn is better when he gets to work loosely with an R-rating, providing a lot of color to his style and letting the actions fly off the screen like in Kick-***, keeping it light-humored all the same. Furthermore, it keeps characters vulnerable and lets you know that anybody is also dispensable. Nothing has to go right here, and it never necessarily does.

It takes a while to pick up to what you're expecting the rest of the way, and because of that as it goes over two hours, re-watching it might take some effort. However, some scenes are more than memorable, and I'll be seeking them on YouTube immediately. The soundtrack choice was also topnotch. This was a fine rental, and I recommend anybody else with an ounce of testosterone to check it out as well.

I saw Straight Outta Comptom last night. Probably one of the best movies I've ever seen.

Did not expect much.....but I really enjoyed this film.
The scene that was like fireworks(don't want to be specific and....spoilers not working from my phone) had me laughing.
I too thought the main character was very likable .

Watched Kingsman again. And geeked out again on when they went to church.

Vaughn just knows how to do action. He doesn't abuse shaky cam which annoys the **** out of me.

                            The Babadook

Watched The Babadook a couple weeks ago. I saw it getting mixed reviews in here, but I really enjoyed it. It had more of a psychological horror feel to me, with the creepy, tense atmosphere throughout being more of the draw than any real scares. To me, the Babadook was all symbolic, which I think gives it much deeper meaning, and gives you a much different perspective when looking at it that way. Either way, I thought it was really well done.

Movie would have been awesome if the mother and child weren't the most annoying movie characters I have ever seen. And that's not an exaggeration for me. The horror aspect and the Babadook itself were so well done but they were ruined by the characters. Such a shame.

The screaming by the boy definitely got old at times, but I think that's kind of by design. A single mother raising a child who's definitely got some issues. I think it would get annoying for sure. I thought they both did a great job, particularly the mother.
