A Cure for Wellness. Dane DeHaan continues to find himself in these eerie, haunting type roles as he certainly has the presentation and look for them. This one was pretty well constructed and the sets and locations fit very well for the story. But the intriguing one in this is Mia Goth as Hannah. I mean if the name fits, wear it! She definitely was cast well for her part. But the most interesting side of this is that she's practically a doppelganger for Shelley Duvall from The Shining. It could be more of her mannerisms as well, but certain angles reminded me so much of her.

Overall it was a good watch. Very suspenseful. I would have liked a different ending, but I'll take this for what it was worth.

I received an extra digital HD redemption code when I purchased The LEGO Batman Movie. If anyone is interested for personal use, PM me.

      Edit: Code claimed!

        The Fabulous Baker Boys

Good character-driven story, which of course thins the plot quite a bit, but still sturdy nonetheless. Never really elevated past a certain beat and kind of went on a downturn by the end, but I think it matched the tone of the film given how they played their music. Although the film won't be extremely memorable in my eyes, there were definitely some memorable quotes.

The whole time I was watching, I was impressed they found somebody who looked like they could actually be Jeff Bridges' brother. Little did I realize... he is! I had to look it up. I hadn't seen anything with Beau in it before.

I had to look up where I had seen him along the way since that movie. I was reminded he was Cushman's dad in Jerry MacGuire and also was in a few eps. of My Name is Earl.

I did come across this recently.... he was in a trippy movie called Village of the Giants. I came across this as he was featured with one of the babes (the blonde in front) dancing in this wild scene. Know who she is without looking it up? She was in a very memorable scene of a very famous movie (hint: prison movie from 1967):

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

I know comments/rankings might be abit diff than some people like, but it's first time I've seen Star Wars in probably a decade+, so thought I'd just post comments and stuff in here.

            Movie Rankings:
            3,6,7,2,5,4,1

Character wise, I'd put Rey>Amidala>Leia. Hamill as Luke more than Christensen as Anakin. Prequel Obi Wan over original. Prequel Yoda over original. I actually liked Han Solo more in 7 over 4-6. And ones like Jar Jar and C-3PO were annoying.

As for just my general thoughts on each movie...
            Spoiler

Will be interesting to see where they go with the 8th movie this year. I know Carrie Fisher filmed all her scenes for the movie, but beyond this, they'll obviously need to do something to write her off(assuming her character wasn't already planned to be killed off). Rey and Finns backstories if it happens in this movie will be interesting to see too.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

Wow, I'm considering putting you on ignore for that Star Wars take. Revenge of the Sith is the best movie? Followed by Jedi? Praise for the edited scenes? Oh dude lol.

Seriously though, what order did you watch them in? 1-7 or the order they came out in? About Empire, I think a lot of people see it as a kid so they don't know the twist before they see it. Attack of the Clones is probably the worst one so to see you put that over Empire and A New Hope is just... new to me. Natalie Portman hates her own performance in the prequels so you may be the only person on Earth to like her over Leia lol. I think my order is 5, 7, 4, 6, R1, 3, 1, 2. I alternate whether 1 or 2 is the worst depending on which one I've seen most recently.

I'm excited for 8, but really curious how this Han Solo movie is gonna turn out.

We went through the Star Wars movies (4-6 then 1-3) about 2 or 3 months ago.

I'm not sure how anybody could put Rey over Leia at this point in time much less Amidala over Leia?

One of the few things the prequels got right was Obi-Wan's casting.

I've never understood why Darth Maul gets props as a popular villain. The dude literally did one thing and he died 30 seconds later.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

                  Phantom Menace
At least tolerable for me. More Maul and less Jar-Jar would have been nice. They wasted so much potential with Darth Maul.

                  Attack of the Clones
Awful. Easily my least favorite of all of them.

                  Revenge of the Sith
The best of the prequels, though that's not saying much.

                  New Hope
A classic. I was a Luke guy as a kid, not sure what I was thinking now. Han rules this.

                  Empire Strikes Back
Still my favorite. I doubt that ever changes. I recreated the Luke-Vader light saber battle so many times as a kid. Snowspeeder > X-Wing.

                  Return of the Jedi
A notch or so behind Empire for me. Depending on my mood, it's either slightly behind or ahead of ANH.

                  Force Awakens
Yeah, it's basically a remake of ANH but I still loved it. Rey and Finn are already two of my favorite SW characters. But can we please move on from giant planet-destroying bases?

I watched it 1-7. Not really a Star Wars fan as a kid or anything so maybe that has something to do with it too, basically already knowing the storyline/characters before even watching.

I just liked the story telling in certain movies. Like Attack of the Clones, how much it starts planting the seeds for Anakin turning with his mom dying, him killing that village, bashing Obi Wan and all that.

Everyone has their own taste/preference. Sure, mine obviously isn't anywhere close to the majority, but it's my opinion for myself. Not saying everyone should have same or similar order as me. Look on bright side, at least I said 1 was the worst, and Jar-Jar was annoying.

The Darth Maul thing is peak Star Wars. We idolize Boba Fett because of the way Vader talked to him ONCE lol. As a kid, I loved Darth Maul for his look and lightsaber. In general though, anything that seems out of the ordinary from the prequels is lauded as revolutionary. The thing that makes the originals (to me, and like most sci-fi) stand out is the lack of exposition and sense of wonder everything comes with. It's a whole universe and everything in it is new. That feeling is taken away when you start giving superfluous exposition into intergalactic trade and just generally adding in plot that didn't make sense. Long story short, we love Darth Maul because he could've been a character in the originals, someone who you could wonder about instead of being told everything. Also, he's badass.

I feel you on the fan thing, I didn't want to seem like I was being too serious or harsh. It's always fun I think for Star Wars fans to see new opinions. There's a ton of history and things get jumbled in ways that it's hard for a fan to separate so its a good perspective. It's weird though because of the way the series is set up. I think it's important for the series to establish that Vader is the man, everything flows from there. I always wonder with people who start with the prequels how they end up feeling (it never surprises me when they don't get attached) only because I don't think I ever could've taken Anakin seriously, he's so whiny and immature. It basically invalidates Vader's awesomeness lol, it just becomes too hard to believe that the dude who can't deal with the universal presence and coarseness of sand would turn into the Space Sauron.

Not sure if you hate Attack of the Clones so much you're intentionally calling it The Clone Wars or if you hate Attack of the Clones so much that you rank The Clone Wars movie ahead of it and leave it off the list, but I don't see a problem either way lol.

Darth Maul looked awesome. His character design was great, but he had no development and didn't do much of anything in the movie. I know what is "job" was, but I've never understood his purpose and felt he was pushed into the open too soon. It would have been amazing if he was used in all 3 prequels - or at least two of them. Develop him. Make him an actual badass rather than just looking like one. Force Anakin to kill him in order to take his place as the Emperor's right hand. That would have been more compelling than the **** we actually got.

I get it, though. Lucas was doing a new Sith #2 in each of the prequels until lil Annie somehow turns into BAMF Darth Vader because Mommy issues and blue-balling for ten years.

Fett, though. I can understand the fandom. He ****ing captured Han Solo by leveraging his BFF against him. That's a BAMF move right there.

Yeah you really can't question too deeply anything in the prequels without coming to the realization that they should've never existed in the form that they did. There are just some really inexplicable things happening. I need to read the Making Of trilogy for the original movies. I can never give Lucas the **** a lot of people do, but it is pretty apparent the difference between him being the final word and being the guy with the ideas trying to get stuff in.

What a tremendous story and the manner in which it was portrayed was so well done.
Didn't see the whole movie, but saw some scenes of it(mostly with him as a little kid) and read up about the whole movie. Sad parts of it obviously mostly just revolving around him as a little kid getting separated from his family and having no idea what do to.

Those types of movies are always sad to me(the ones with kids getting separated from/losing one or both parents). Probably more cause you can feel for them if you were in their shoes, compared to other types of movies where even if it's sad moments, you can't really picture yourself losing your best friend in an alien invasion attack or something random like that.
