The last movie I watched was Fate of the Furious. FF8
It was not that good as compared to the previous parts.

While we are miles apart on Ragnarok (LOVED it), I agree on Ant Man & The Wasp. It's rare that a sequel actually surpasses the original but it did here. This film made the first (while very good itself) feel like a warm up.

(In the MCU itself, Winter Solider was better than Captain America's first film IMO, as well.)

Agreed on Cap. I've said before that Cap 1 really should've been Cap 1 & 2. Bucky was such a big part of WWII Cap that they could've made Cap 1 WWII oriented and Cap 2 WWII, lose Bucky, head to the big freeze. Said all that to mean I thought it was rushed.

I think with Ragnorok, they tried to hard with the comedy, especially on a movie that was supposed to be dark/end of world material. I know it was popular, but that doesn't mean it was necessary a good work of art.

Sure, and all art is subjective, hence the division on that movie Personally, I was quite amazed at the balance that was struck on that film WITH that much comedy. There was also significant tonal shifts but it was all done so deftly and with such style that it went over incredibly well.

          Again, IMO.

Cap 1 was a solid movie, but the stakes in Winter Soldier were so high, and having Redford there really brought some extra gravitas to the proceedings. I think the Cap movies just got better with each one, as Civil War is my fave of the three, but WS is RIGHT there.

Saw Violet and Daisy over the weekend. Sure, a lot of its Pulp Fiction inspired knockoff but it was still entertaining. James Gandolfini FTW

Saw "Hunter Killer" with my wife yesterday. Really enjoyed it. It's a great submarine movie as the underwater scenes are so enhanced graphically, and the latest technology really blows away the in-sub scenes like those of K-19 WidowMaker, Crimson Tide, Black Sea or Hunt For Red October (for examples). From the opening scene you are put right into an action-packed movie. Some sniper stuff added in with Navy Seals storyline built into it. Sure it has some stuff that you have to suspend some reality, but if you enjoy that genre, don't read the critics reviews - just go watch it and enjoy a great submarine thriller / action movie. Will be added to my DVD collection for sure.

What We Do In The Shadows (free on Amazon Prime)

This is hilarious and perfect for anybody looking for "something different" for their Horror and Halloween fix. It's a mockumentary following a group of vampires sharing a flat in New Zealand. The characters are based on a couple different vampire "stereotypes." Obviously a lot of tongue in cheek stuff and surprisingly creepy and gory at times.

Saw Bad Times at El Royale the other night, and was really blown away by it. Some of the best use of metaphor this year, as a this film uses a hotel that sits, literally, on the border of Nevada and California. While the heaven and hell metaphors are clear and obvious, it really goes much deeper.

The film feels like a Tarantino flick, but he wishes he would have done a film this smart. But even on a surface level, there is great music, great performances, and an interesting heist flick story going on.

Personally, Solo was my favorite Star Wars film. It got a bad rap.

Totally agree on Solo. I think it got an unfair bad rep. I really enjoyed it and feel it is one of the most underrated in the Star Wars franchise.

The Equalizer 2. Don't really need to see 1 to understand this one, but couldn't hurt. In many ways I liked this better than 1. It's more Denzel bad-assery.

Saw Chappaquiddick on Netflix a few days ago and liked it. A bit more sympathetic to Kennedy than is warranted IMO, given what happened, but it doesn't really pull its punches either. Jason Clarke nails the role of Ted Kennedy, right down to the accent.
