Saw the new King Arthur movie. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it as a nice escape for an evening. I also loved the music in it.

One article I read said Charlie Hunnam wasn't enough of a movie star to carry this "epic". But given the right pieces in place, a less known TV star (Chris Pratt) became a movie star with one film.

Watched Memento last night and Pulp fiction last off day.

Memento was okay. I was sad when my theory about him faking his condition went out the window at the end tho.

Pulp Fiction was pretty friggin amazing though. Samuel L. Jackson was fantastic. Pretty sick little twist there at the end. I felt for ole Marsellus in that last act though. You just don't ever imagine something like that happening to yourself, poor fella.

Any suggestions for me? I've got an off day tomorrow and I could use a flick.

I'll admit, my only ho-hum experience with the film was the first time I watched it... when I was 13 years old. I don't think I understood it then. Didn't even remember I had seen it, until I rewatched it in my later high school years. Then I was like, "... Whoa."

The Prestige. Probably Nolan's most underappreciated film, and is on Netflix.

3rd movie coming out in 2 months, I watched Dawn of the Planet of the Apes today. It's more exciting looking forward to 3rd movie after 2nd ended than 2nd after 1st ended.

Caesar is still my fave character in the movie. Regardless what happens for remainder of this series, just make it end with Caesar and his family on top and everyone else I don't care about.

Too bad there's no real way to have James Franco back in the series, both because it doesn't seem like they want him back/his character is 99% likely dead in that world.

              Prometheus.

              Not great, not bad.

Distinct lack of HR Giger in the aliens involved. Ignoring any connection to Aliens though and it was just an OK Sci-fi action movie. Very bright, not very suspenseful, probably my biggest surprise.

Saw Guardians 2 for Mothers Day (my wife is cool)

Really enjoyed it. Solid sequel. First one better for sure and I expected that.

But damn good and I love the whole 80's retro vibe. It's great.

Finally saw split while doing my best to avoid spoilers.
Loved it and how it ended up ending.

No real twist, but a bunch of hidden things that could be taken as clues to the ending.

I loved The Visit and now this, I hope M Knight is making a comeback.

Saw Snatched earlier today. Some great chemistry between Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn, but a little too much gratuitous raunch that wasn't very funny. I could do without seeing Amy in a bikini too.

I'm sure you mean Schumer, not Poehler. Cannot see this because of her and Wanda Sykes. Absolutely the opposite of funny. Both of em.

Yeah, don't know where my mind went.

I liked Wanda on Curb Your Enthusiasm but she wasn't funny in this movie.

Schumer can be funny but unfortunately she is required to do or say several distasteful things during the course of a movie although Trainwreck was pretty good. (IMO)

Went to see Alien: Covenant last night. Visually there were some really nice visuals and transitions done. The gore benefits from the technology of 2017. IMO the full grown morphs didn't. They got a lot of screen time in their full standing adult forms and I don't think it was to their benefit. You could almost tell there was a person in the suits. On the whole I enjoyed the movie as a fan of the series.

That said. I have no idea what they were doing with the story and the ability to transition to the original trilogy. I won't ruin anything, but safe to say they have punched huge holes in their own lore and have left a lot of work to get from where this movie ended to where Alien begins.

Saw Beauty and The Beast. Was underwhelmed. Not a huge Emma Watson fan. The lip syncing was terrible. The casting for Gaston was suspect (though really like him in the 3 Musketeers). The Beast I thought was "dingy" looking and didn't really bring a "wow" effect. Maybe if he was larger, but I think sometimes the camera wasn't on him long enough in certain scenes. The "Be Our Guest" scene was like a bad LSD trip and thought the CGI for the candlestick and clock were pretty subpar. Maybe I saw the animated version too many times with my kids and this just didn't meet up to it.
