Power Rangers
Loved it, Dolby Atmos track was very good as well. Brought me back to my childhood. I also thought Elizabeth Banks did a great job as Rita. That bully in the movie sure reminded me of Ed Sheeran lol.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
The Edge of Seventeen
Personally, I thought it was great. Some characters were a bit cookie-cutter, but also structured perfectly in this real-world narrative to still be very believable and not too mundane. Ultimately, I think I could have told you the entire story within the first ten minutes, but that's also akin to me watching the Warriors win the NBA Finals: ultimately it didn't make the outcome any worse of a watch. Great casting as well; everybody fit just right. Hailee Steinfeld has risen in my book.
The only drawback I'd mention is something that I think is unavoidable, but much like the film Trainwreck, sometimes it's hard to root for a protagonist with such a flawed personality. However, unlike Trainwreck, Hailee Steinfeld's character was sympathetic whereas Amy Schumer's character was simply toxic, and I think that's important enough and is what separates the two. Her background really completes her, and as a teacher I know people just like her. They are on a beaten path and they just need the right people in life to correct them. I feel like Trainwreck was already a derailment, hah.
Not that those two films are the same, though. This one falls more in with the likes of Juno. I recommend this, but as it doesn't really break any new mold you don't have to go out of your way for it either.Last edited by Blzer; 06-29-2017, 03:02 AM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I loved this. The soundtrack and utilization of the music was perfect and the action scenes were fantastic. The story itself is fairly straight-forward, but it finds itself in compelling territory by the middle of the movie. The cast play their parts perfectly and the dialogue is written with a sense of rhythm that feels lyrical.
I haven't seen a movie in awhile where I immediately wanted to go back in the theater and re-watch it. As a guy that loves driving with my music this definitely fired on all cylinders for me.
As much as I love Edgar's other films Baby Driver may very well be my favorite now.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
They should just cancel all the editing Oscars and give them to Baby Driver now. The gunshots synced up to musical cues were unreal. The opening when he's going to get coffee and then the first escape, might be my favorite opening 20 minutes ever. I had the biggest smile on my face the whole time.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

The soundtrack is straight fire. I've been listening to it this morning. Each song is a body shaker.Last edited by Fresh Tendrils; 06-30-2017, 10:49 AM.

All the cars leaving the theater after this film were squealing tires and flooring the gas.

Moana. Severely over rated movie. Not even in the top 10 for animated movies for me.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Captain America: Civil War Of course a great re-watch. Some around here talking about Marvel movies being formulaic, but I don't see it. This brought a pretty interesting switch. The ability for Marvel to balance well a large cast of characters within a 2+ hour time frame was nothing short of spectacular.
And my favorite little Easter egg ..... the mention of the word "Timely".Comment

Saw King Arthur - Legend of the Sword....Not very good imo. Excalibur set the standard to me for King Arthur films..Some poor casting decisions..EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment

Pearl Harbor
Man I haven't seen this movie in years and I forgot how much I loved it. I know some may not like the love story aspect but I'm okay with it. Good god I had forgotten how long and epic the actual attack was. I was on the edge of my seat like I didn't know what was gonna happen. Anyways just a solid flick imo.

Baby Driver
Thought this was a pretty solid film. The way they incorporate the music with the movie is down right amazing. I mean gun shots to the beat of the music??? That was great. Nothing crazy about the story but the way it was portrayed was awesome. Oh and the car scenes were really well done. Fast and the Furious style but much less over the top and more realistic. Solid acting as well. Just a good film.

I haven't ever seen Lily James before, but she looks like a direct blend of two of my female friends (who are both cute like she is). I loved the chemistry between the two, even if the relationship got a little forced.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
