Saw this in 3D tonight and it was great. These aren't kids movies though, damn. If that doesn't tug at your emotions I don't know what will! Sad/touching for sure...Pixar really knows how to tell a story everyone can enjoy, yet still be intense/deep.

I think Pixar (and Disney before them with all of their 2D cartoons) have really kept up the tradition with taking children's stories and using them to focus on and develop themes and ideas that adults can pick up on and analyze.

Brad Bird (the director of The Iron Giant, The Incredibles, and Ratatouille) is credited as saying that he HATES the perception that animation is for kids...as he envisions the format being able to tell all kinds of stories for every audience.

I only hope that vision comes true in my lifetime. I love Pixar to death, but the random PG movie just doesn't cut it.

Saw the movie yesterday. Although there are parts that most kids won't truly "get", I still give the movie 8.5/10.

I haven't laughed like that in a long time....

I enjoyed the movie. The 3D was fun, but did not feel quite as legit as Monsters vs. Aliens 3D. Still, Up was fun and I'd recommend it.

Hate to be a downer, but this was touching. I had a 11 year cousin die of cancer too.

A child's last wish
10-year-old Colby Curtin died of cancer this week, but before she passed away, her final wish was fulfilled. The child had desperately wanted to see the new Pixar movie, "Up." Unfortunately, she was too ill to go to the theater. According to various articles within the Buzz, Pixar was told of Colby's illness. The company sent a representative to deliver a DVD for Colby to watch in her room. Though she could no longer see, her mother narrated the action. Colby died several hours after the movie ended, and searches on "up movie make a wish" and "colby curtin up" both soared.

I just watched it on Blu Ray and wow, amazing and gorgeous movie. I need to see this on a 120 hhz tv, I love whenever Pixar does anything in nature, it's breath taking.

As for the movie, very touching and I thought it was hilarious. The kid was funny and I can't get enough of all the talking dogs. Carl was a perfect as a bitter old man, I had to look up who did his voice because he sounded so familiar to me. He was the voice of Jamison during the the 90's Spirderman cartoon.

My neice is only 14 months but paid attention to the movie the whole time and really loved whenever the talking dogs were on screen or whenever she saw the balloons.

Yeah, this Blu-ray looked phenomenal on my Samsung LN40A750 HDTV and that runs at 120 HZ. Pretty cool story too. The first 15-20 minutes are so sad it's hard to believe it was a "kids" movie more or less. Pixar are the best in the world at what they do and no one else is even close.

This was a very heart warming story. Got the chance to watch it last week on a plane.

However, I didn't really find it that funny. There were funny moments, but there were less references to pop culture like you find in other Pixar films. The stuff that kids don't really get.

I also felt that the theme was a little heavy for children. I don't think a child will care, but I think a lot of it gets lost in translation.

That being said, Pixar never disappoints me. I love their messages and I love their stories.

I loved this movie. Probably my favorite Pixar movie, I think. I didn't really think it was a great children's movie, but simply a great movie.

One of the best movies of 09. Just an incredible movie start to finish. Loved every minute of it, as did my Son who laughed several times, especially with the dogs.

I don't think that it was supposed to be hilarious or anything, their movies aren't really comedies.
