    In a GOAT I honestly don't care how many records a dude has sold. After a few platinums, its all the same. IMHO, The Illmatic > Reasonable Doubt, and Jay-Z hasn't spit anything close to Nas' classics.

    (not hatin on Jay-Z though, I love most of his earlier albums and the Blueprint got me into hiphop)
    Eagles, 76ers, Phillies, Arsenal FC, Wildcats, Vols

    Red October
    On the road to Vick-tory

    Nas = GOAT

      at the end of the day its all opinion, some may like reasonable doubt better than illmatic tho....

      But saying sales dont matter is like saying rings and chapionships dont matter....They are in the game to sell records if not they would be at coffee shops doing spoken words or hosting a talk show or hotline....

        As much as I love Illmatic, people do tend to overrate it some.

          I'm in the huge minority regarding Nas. The only song of his I like is Ether. Nas is one of those big musical mysteries to me, like the Beatles and Radiohead.

                      Nobody is saying Illmatic is overrated in a sense that it's horrible. I said people do overrate Illmatic a little bit because people will pass it off as if it was the perfect album top to bottom and it could be no wrong, which is far from true, IMO.

                        Exactly wat has he done that was trendy? Beside "my sunsine" beside stealling his "swag" from philly, Jay is a trend setter...

                          If anything Illmatic is underrated.

                          And jukeman, I'm sorry but Jay has been "trendy" throughout his career. I'll give him props on riding the line between "street" and "trendy" at the same time.

                              maybe we have a diff defenition of the word "trendy"

                              if you guys talking about him making "radio/commercia"l music than yeah and thats wat makes him hot along with Big and Pac, the ability to make a hot record whether its hood or radio....

                              But Jay didnt go do what everybody else was doing(like music is now) when you hear a Jay track you know its his because he has his own "trend"(style) yea he bit a couple of lines but who hasnt?? Its apart of hip hop....thats like saying we should sample nomore lol

                                It's more hilarious for people to say Illmatic is overrated. That album is classic material from beginning to end.
